I would like to get a jump on taking my vitamins before surgery. I’ve noticed that some doctors state you should start taking vitamins a couple of weeks before surgery, I would like to know would it hurt if I start taking them a couple months before? Would it be a benefit or ineffective?

Answer: Can I start taking my vitamins such as iron, C , etc. 2 months before surgery? Thanks for your question. The best person to advice you will be your specific surgeon. Patients have to get labs done before the surgery in order to see if they're in good health for surgery. Based on the labs your surgeon would be able to recommend medication if needed. You definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. A key quality indicator is Board Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Don’t settle for less than a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.
