It can take 3 to 4 months before scars to really start to settle down following lip lift. If there has been a separation of the incision bring this up with your surgeon. He or she may wish that you apply and antibacterial cream until the body closes the opening. Occasionally, there is the possibility that some changes may be permanent and would require a revision. It is wise not to consider this for about six months.

It is not uncommon for certain patients to be allergic to the components in the antibiotic ointment after extended use. It can cause redness and irritation to the area where the ointment is applied.
