12 days post bull horn lip lift, incision problems? (Photo)

Question

Hello, I'm 12 days post bull horn lip lift. I love my lip results, but there are large black hole under both nostrils that are obvious even with make up. Sutures were removed on day 7. I did have a cold and had to blow my nose frequently. There's also small amounts of fluid, slightly pink colored coming from these holes. Should I be concerned? I've been keeping it covered with aquaphor and antibiotic ointment, but nothing seems to help. My PS does not seemed concerned. Please advise. Thank you!

It can take 3 to 4 months before scars to really start to settle down following lip lift. If there has been a separation of the incision bring this up with your surgeon. He or she may wish that you apply and antibacterial cream until the body closes the opening. Occasionally, there is the possibility that some changes may be permanent and would require a revision. It is wise not to consider this for about six months.

You should continue to be diligent with your application of antibiotic ointment and follow any additional recovery instructions provided by your board certified facial plastic surgeon. It is not uncommon for certain patients to be allergic to the components in the antibiotic ointment after extended use. It can cause redness and irritation to the area where the ointment is applied. It may be worth discussing this with your plastic surgeon to find an alternative to the ointment if your concerns continue. You are very early in the healing and things should improve soon. Thank you for your question and photos.From photos it looks like you have small fistulae at the sites of sutures. They tend to heal with time and you obviously using the creams, antibiotics and under supervision of your surgeon. May be it is a good idea also to prescribe a short course of anti-funglas to expedite healing as skin is rich in microflora and yeast like fungus often inhabits the crises around nostrils. Just ask you surgeon about it. Injecting Botox around the scar also shown to relax scar tissue tension and aids healing.
