Is this just swelling after the lip lift procedure? (photos)

Swelling can persist for some time following a lip lift. It is not unusual to see effects of swelling 6 to 8 weeks following surgery. The healing process has many phases which can affect the results. Follow your postoperative care instructions carefully. If you have concerns, it is always wise to discuss them with your surgeon as only he or she knows exactly the technique utilized and expected results in the long-term.

Thank you for your question. You are very early in your healing process. At this point, patients experience a high degree of swelling which should subside within 2-4 weeks after your surgery. I suggest that you consult with your board certified facial plastic surgeon to revisit your recovery instructions. To be honest, you are doing a great job keeping the incision nice and clean - it will heal beautifully.  As far as the changes that you are seeing, that is to be expected particularly after the amount of lift you had.  At this time, a component of it is certainly swelling, however, as things settle you will have a better idea.  As always, make sure you bring this up to your surgeon when it's time for the stitches to come out! Your suture line and aesthetic result appear very nice at just three days following such a procedure... but then again, your lips were beautiful before.Regarding your downturned corners, part or all of that could easily be swelling.  Only time will answer your question, although it should be addressed to your surgeon as a concern.
