Is it possible to still get a lip lift after I've gotten fillers?

Question

These past two weeks i got 2 syringes done on my lips and kinda upset cause they are not full enough for me. I went back to the same clinic, this time working with a different doctor. I asked if it's possible to make my teeth show when my mouth is slightly open with just fillers, the doctor had said yes but the doctor before her had told me i'd need a lip lift for that. i've already spent $1000 on my lips and not satisfied i went to know if it's worth going back this weekend to get more fillers.

Thanks for your question. While filler is used to augment the lips it generally can only address volume and not the exact shape of your lips depending on ones anatomy. So in your case it would be best to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in surgical lip lifts.And upper lip does three things:1. Shortens the distance of the base of the nose to the upper lip Vermilion.2. Allows your upper teeth to be seen, which is aesthetically beneficial in most cases.3. Everts the upper lip Vermilion (rolls it outwards) to a very minor degree. I tell my patients that if they are coming to me for an upper lip lift and expect a a good deal of added "real estate" to their upper lip, they will be disappointed. To really gain control the shape of the lip and prevent a "rabbit" or "A- frame"  result  , my OOS lip lift is optimal. I perform the upper lip lift through more secure, deeper  suturing of the muscle to get a more refined, sensual appearance to the mouth like a  Victoria's Secret  or Guess model.

Thank you for your question. Please remain patient for your injectibles to take effect on your lips. Fat injections are an excellent technique for lip augmentation as it offers the only natural method for potential permanent results. The fat transfer technique may require two to three treatment to achieve a permanent result as the body absorbs much of the injected fat. I suggest that you move forward and consult with your board certified facial plastic surgeon to learn more about your recovery expectations and timeline for desired results.Best wishes,

Yes, it is still possible to get a lip lift after you've tried fillers. While a lip augmentation is great for creating fuller, plumper lips, it will not address a long upper lip. Only an upper lip lift will do that. So whether or not fillers can provide a bit of a lift depends on the length between the bottom of your nose and the tip of your top lip. Furthermore, using too much filler with a 'long' upper lip typically results in duck lips.
Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who can help you determine what would yield the best results based on your specifics and your goals.

Thank you for your inquiry. Without photos it will be hard to judge if you need a lip lift or not. However, from your expectations, i believe a lip lift is the right treatment plan for you. Both fillers and lip lift surgeries are often done together. If you are hesitant, i would advise consulting with another doctor or two. Please always choose a board certified plastic surgeon for best results.

Hello. Generally speaking, lip augmentation with fillers will not provide lifting. It will add volume and shape to the lip.  A lip lift will allow for more visibility of the upper teeth and create some eversion ( rolling outward) of the upper lip. This creates an illusion of more fullness. Fillers or lip implants can be used in conjunction with a lip lift in appropriately selected patients to create volume, shape, and lift. If you are considering a lip lift and aren't going to continue with fillers, then you should wait until the filler effect is gone prior to having the upper lip evaluated. More fillers is not the answer to lifting the lip for most patients, as you are making the lip longer typically as you add volume. I hope this information is helpful to you.
