No, I do not suspect you hurt your nose. This ointment is commonly used for the nose, because of its use in treating the bacteria that reside there. Continue to follow the directions of your surgeon and alert him or her of any further concerns. Good luck!

Bactroban, (generic - Mupirocin) is a topical antibiotic, avilable in cream or ointment, which particularly effective in treating Staph Aureus, and especially the MRSA type.It turns out that this MRSA tends to live in the nose of healthy people. This is referrred to being colonized. Swabbing the nostrils with Bactroban both before and after surgery is a common step that a lot of surgeons adopt in order to prevent infection in the surgery itself.

This is an antibiotic ointment that I use routinely after rhinoplasty surgery and have done so for years. I doubt you have done any harm but please contact your surgeon and verify his/her recommendations.

Completely fine inside the nose. No worries. We use it all the time. No need for specific "nasal" bactroban. All the best! Congrats on rhinoplasty!
