What supplies are required for rhinoplasty aftercare?

I had my pre op apt for a rhino but all I was given was a form with medical care supplies to buy for after surgery. List included: gauze, peroxide, Neosporin, and qtips but they failed to explain what I need to do with these things. The apt was rushed and I did not have the time to ask the questions I wanted. I was told I would see my nose for the first time 1wk later. So what are all these supplies for then?

Every surgeon has a slightly different approach to post operative management.  Your surgeon and his or her office staff you provide you with instructions and be available to answer all your questions. If they have done so and you felt rushed before your surgery, that may be a red flag.  At the minimum you should ask for another appointment before proceeding to have your questions answered and restore your confidence.  If that doesn't do it, consider looking for another surgeon. Shame on your plastic surgeon's office that did not have time to answer your questions. It might be best to schedule your surgery with another office which has the time to educate patients through this process that is life-changing.  In our practice, we do not ask patients to buy any supplies, we just aske  they fill their prescriptions.
