2 years post op saline breast aug. I have gained 35 pounds (125 now 160). I am only 22 with no kids. I hardly wear a bra and don’t mind that my breasts have dropped a bit, but I hate how large and stretched out my areolas have become. My left areola is significantly larger as well now and takes longer than the right to become erect. With weight loss, will they go back to normal size?? I am terrified I permanently stretched out my areolas. Photos: few days post op, settled, and current.

Answer: Areola Size Thank you for your question regarding an increase in your areola size and for including pictures. Throughout my practice, areola increasing in size after implants can be quite common. Some more than others. An option to discuss with your surgeon is a procedure called nipple/areola reduction. To be sure what might be right for you, see two or more experienced, board-certified Plastic Surgeons for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have surgery. I hope this helps.

Answer: Areola size Thank you for your photos and questions. While weight loss may change the way your breasts appear it will not cause your areola to shrink. You can consider areola reduction which is a relatively simple procedure to decrease the size. See a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.
