Hi, Thanks for sharing!Unfortunately, the stretch caused by the implants and the additional weight, placed your skin and areolas on a constant stretch. At this point, even if you loose weight, it is unlikely that they would go back to their original size. You can consider an areola reduction procedure to try and correct this problem. Hi. Saline implants are heavier than gels, and have a much greater capacity to stretch out the breast skin (including the areolas). It is unfortunately unlikely that your areolas will shrink back down if you lose weight. I would suggest that you start to wear good support, as this will help prevent further stretching out of your skin. You will only receive a correct fitting by seeing a grown-up professional in a specialty lingerie store - please avoid the mass market chain lingerie outlets. All the best.

Throughout my practice, areola increasing in size after implants can be quite common. Some more than others.

An option to discuss with your surgeon is a procedure called nipple/areola reduction.

To be sure what might be right for you, see two or more experienced, board-certified Plastic Surgeons for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have surgery.

Areoles that enlarge due to increase in breast volume over time are unlikely to revert spontaneously to their original size even after weight loss, but there can be some improvement, especially if the weight gain is recent. You can also have an invasive radio frequency treatment like ThermiTight which can help. I have had success reducing areola size non surgically, with this technique, for several individuals. Skin is just like a sock. If you stretch that sock to a certain breaking point, there is only so much recoil that can happen after that breaking point. Breast tissue, skin and structures (like the areola) are similar in that they can only tolerate a certain amount of stretch and will likely not return to normal despite weight loss. You will likely need a mastopexy to reduce the skin envelope and the areolas. I would recommend seeing a board-certified or board-eligible plastic surgeon with aesthetic surgery training and experience to tackle this type of problem in a safe and efficient manner. You had a small asymmetry of areolas before surgery; one was larger than the other. After gaining waight and further breast enlargement, areola was additionally streched. Exccision and smal lift on the larger, streched side, may help. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon, is recommended. Good luck.

No, they will not return to the original size without surgery. Anything that increases the size of the breast can increase the size of the areola. However, they can be made smaller.
