Should I get 3 ml Voluma chin filler? (Photo)

Hi, I was looking into getting chin filler. A medical spa in town is doing a buy 2 get 1 ml free special right now and I wanted to see if 3 ml is normal or what looks like would be a good amount for me to balance my profile more and help with the wrinkling in my chin.

Voluma can improve the projection of the chin, but it is a temporary solution. There is also a real risk of blockage of the facial artery, which can cause tissue death. An acquaintance of ours just had this done, and is now undergoing hyperbaric therapy after multiple treatments of hyaluronidase after voluma was accidentally injected into the facial artery. Through this is a small injection, adverse outcomes can occur. Oromaxillofacial surgeons are masters at bony re-structuring of the jaws, which would permanently correct your facial structure. Thanks for your question and the photos you provided. I would agree that you have chin retrusion and 3 mL would be a great place to start. When looking at your chin/neck region, you may also want to consider skin tightening of the chin and neck to improve the angle of your jawline and neck.

If you like the 3 mL of filler to the chin, you may eventually want to convert to a chin implant for a more permanent look. This procedure is easily tolerated under general anesthesia with a small incision under the chin.  Good luck, be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon.

I typically do not place more than 2 syringes of Voluma in the chin at one treatment due to the amount of swelling that may occur in this very mobile area of the face. Swelling of the chin may last several weeks and be uncomfortable. When you go back for a follow up another syringe could be added if necessary.

your chin will need numerous syringes, but im not sure 3 syringes there is the best look for you. I would suggest a few to the chin, and then some to the later cheek and lips to give overall facial balancing. some of why your chin isnt as "good looking" is because you need botox to calm the muscle there that is very active, this will help the filler look better and last longer. plus the upper chin (above the bone and around the mouth) needs balancing with a more soft filler like restylane refyne or belotoro.  I suggest seeing an expert in facial sculpting AND starting at home dermarolling to improve the look of your chin area overall (cobblestone).

at home peels like cosmelan, enlighten and aerify along with dermarolling (MTS roller with anteage MD ampules weekly, see linkt) should be started now to prevent further aging.

For facial rejuvenation,  I would suggest a combination approach of 
1) skin care with products and PRP/microneedling
2) PDT light therapy few times a month with growth factors
3) laser treatments like clear and brilliant regularly and a few times a year Fraxel/halo Viva, Co2/Erbium
4) Sculptra injections a few times a year for collagen production with fillers like juvederm/restylane/belotero/radiesse/bellafill
5) thermage/ultherapy for yearly skin tightening with or without PDO or cone based instalift threads for lifting
6) botox every 2-3 months to stop movement lines and prevent lines at rest
7) deep microneedling RF like Fractora/morpheus8 for tightening of the skin
8) Vascular laser like vbeam/excel V or BBL forever young treatment every quarter (3-4 months)

I encourage you to begin by visiting with an experienced injector to discuss your goals for treatment.  If you are concerned about an "orange peel" look to the chin, the correct treatment is Botox.  If you are wanting to impact the shape and volume of the chin, then you can consider fillers.

The administration of fillers is a highly technical procedure. There are so many factors to consider to determine if you are a good candidate for it, best filler to use, the right amount, injection technique, etc. Please contact a qualified provider or a board-certified physician with extensive experience in these procedures.

That definitely a great question, I would recommend starting with 1-2 cc of voluma and reviewing the results as you get along, you can always add more if necessary. If you end up loving the results you can either continue with fillers or consider an implant in the future as well!
