Compared to your preop photo, you do have improvement.I believe you are not happy with the degree of improvement you ended up with. You do not state your age, health, co-morbidities and what was discussed with your surgeon preop. These are all contributing factors in the final outcome. You are only 3 months postop, and certain swelling is expected. You also show a lot of stretch marks which is an indication of poor skin elasticity and as you heal, your skin will become loose. In you case, you might need further skin excision at a later date. You might've had some minimal liposuction done during your tummy tuck. Every surgeon approaches the body differently, and you got a standard tummy tuck with minimal liposuction. Personally, my approach to the body is to sculpt it as much as possible, to return to a more youthful shape and this often involves a tummy tuck with muscle repair, extensive liposuction of the abdomen, back, hips and waist to give the best improvement. Of course, this needs to be discussed at the consultation and preop stage, because not all patients can have the extended recovery time or funds for the operation that delivers the best results. Stay close to your surgeon, you will not complete healing for another 3-4 months. At that point, you can discuss further improvement of your results. Good luck.

At three months, this will be very close to your final result.   There are options such as additional liposuction.  In that regard you appear to have minimal skin laxity and could likely tolerate liposuction without skin laxity post-op.  Discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon.  Take care.

Thanks for your question.  3 months post-op you should start to see your final result but you may still have some swelling.  Keep in mind that your final result will be determined in no small part by the amount of fat you have within your abdomen, around your intestines.  Probably best to check in with your plastic surgeon to get his/her opinion.  Best of luck.

Your photos do show an improvement from your pre operative appearance but you feel that your abdominal tissue should be tighter and less jiggly.  Patience and additional months will allow the swelling to go down and the final contour to be seen.  Address your concerns to your plastic surgeon.  Your surgeon may suggest some additional liposuction to remove additional fat from your abdomen and would be in the best position to know if any additional skin tightening could be done.

You probably have some post op 'edema' or swelling at this point - but I agree - your tummy could look flatter and tighter than it currently does. Ask your plastic surgeon what is going on.

Your photos show a very significant improvement. I always caution patients that a flat stomach with tight skin is not always possible after a tummy tuck. Patients with lots of stretch marks have poor skin elasticity and the skin may not feel tight after the tummy tuck. Also, a tummy tuck does not treat the intra-abdominal fat which is fat that surrounds your internal organs. This fat can be very large in volume and contributes to residual abdominal bulging after a tummy tuck. Discuss these concerns with your plastic surgeon who is in the best position to advise you. 

There is no doubt that some swelling is still present at three months after a tummy tuck.  The question will be whether the residual amount of fat and skin looseness is still too much for what you want your final result to be.  At some point in the near future, perhaps over the next few months, you will be able to judge your final result.All the best,Dr Remus Repta
