I had my son two years ago and recently discovered a rather large hernia. My doctor suggested possibly two. I read people get a tummy tuck at the same time as a hernia repair and it's quite common. I was planning on a breast job and tummy tuck in a few months but since this came up I wondered if I should or could get it all done at the same time? How bad and how long will recovery be?

Answer: Multiple Procedures, Some advices: Thank you very much for sharing your concerns with us.For safety reasons, to be a good candidate for BA+ TT and hernia repair at the same time, your labs and cardiovascular preoperative evaluation must be optimal. Therefore, you must be a healthy person, within an appropriate BMI and no history of diseases that increase the surgical / anesthetic risk degree. Finally, I recommend you a skilled certified plastic surgeon in body contouring surgery and experienced in cases like yours.Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Answer: Combination surgery Hi, there. Breast augmentation and tummy tuck (mommy makeover) is commonly done at the same time. If you want the inguinal hernia to be repaired at the same time, your plastic surgeon can work with a general surgeon so that all three procedures can be combined. Your recovery will be from tummy tuck and hernia repair than breast augmentation. I would expect that you would have more discomfort from tummy tuck. Recovery/downtime varies depending on your pain threshold and type of work that you do. Most of my patients make pain medicine for 1-2 weeks; they return to work after two week if they have desk jobs. Please talk with your plastic surgeon about his/her post-operative recommendation. Good luck.
