I got lipo under my buttocks to define the crease and get rid of banana roll fat. Sadly the doctor over liposuctioned me and the side profile of my butt looks VERY saggy. I’ve taken a photo of it now and how I would like it to look.. is there any revision surgery that can make this possible? I talked to the doctor and because I don’t like the results and I’ve complained, he refuses to see me. I’m young and my butt isn’t saggy at all but it gives the illusion that it is.

Answer: Banana rolls Banana rolls can be tricky to treat. Overly aggressive liposuction can make banana rolls worse or even multiply in number! Fat grafting is on option to soften the crease but it will not remove the crease entirely. Another option is a direct excision with the incision hidden in your natural buttock crease. Hope this helps! Johnson C. Lee, MD Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Liposuction of the banana roll liposuction of the banana roll should not be done. It never gives the results people are looking for and causes disfigurement. The contour that people don’t like in this area is skin related and has nothing to do with fat distribution. Whether you requested the procedure or it was suggested by the provider it shouldn’t have been done. The primary problem now is fat has been removed that should be there. Fat transfer is probably the only realistic option though don’t expected to restore you to where you were pre-liposuction and it may take a few rounds to get you where you need to be. It’s very difficult to correct poorly done liposuction. Avoid revision liposuction and definitely don’t let anyone cut out skin. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
