I recently posted a question about skin retraction, and received feedback that I should not get a tummy tuck being above 30-32 BMI. My bmi is 42. A doctor said I have too much visceral fat, which I'm not sure is true. I have had 2 c sections, and my stomach makes it very difficult to exercise. I was determined to get a tummy tuck regardless of my BMI, because I feel like it will help me continue my health journey and feel more confident. I am ready to book a procedure within the next few months!

Answer: Am I a Tummy Tuck Candidate with Higher BMI? Patients with a BMI above 30 are at increased risk for complications from elective plastic surgery. Some risks include seroma, poor wound healing, and infection. There is also a risk for a sub par result. It is best to have a BMI below 30 to keep risks minimized. I encourage you to work with a dietician and/or trainer to help you lower your BMI before considering this procedure.

Answer: Am I a Tummy Tuck Candidate with Higher BMI? Hello dear, thank you for your question and pictures.High BMI in plastic surgery means higher risk of complications, my advice is that you first need to achive a BMI under 33 to decrease complications and achieve better results. After evaluating your pictures you seem to be a good candidate for a full tummy tuck combined with 360 liposuction, with these two techniques we can remove the skin excess on your abdomen and localized fat on the back and waist but this can only be done correctly with the right weight.Make sure to approach to a certified surgeon to help you clear all your doubts.Best wishes!
