Thank you for your question. Every plastic surgeon has their own protocols. Speak with your chosen surgeon. All the best,
We recommend putting antibiotic ointment over the opening the drain leaves after it is removed and covering with gauze or abdominal pad until it is completely healed. It is always best to follow the direction of your plastic surgeon.
Thank you for your question. For most patients placement of a clean gauze and ointment over the incision site to catch any drainage is recommended until the hole heals on its own, normally in 2-4 days after drain removal. Hope this helps
Hello and thank you for reaching out. Typically the hole is so small that it will be closed within 24 hours of removal, but until then, a small amount of antibiotic ointment and a band aid or small 2 x 4 can be placed to cover the site. I would check with your surgeon for his or her specific instructions-every surgeon is different. Best Wishes.
Thank you for the question. In my practice I apply some antibiotic ointment and gauze after removing the drain. Patients are able to remove this gauze after 24 hours. If needed they may use over-the-counter antibiotic ointment and a bandaid for a couple of days. I would recommend discussing this with your surgeon and follow their post op wound care protocol. Best of Luck.
I suggest you contact your plastic surgeon for his/her recommendations. I typically have my patients use over-the-counter antibiotic ointment and a bandaid for a couple of days. Best wishes.
Thank you for your question. Every surgeon has different post operative protocols. At our office we just have our patient use Vaseline or Aquaphor on the drain holes till they heal. Check with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon on what their protocol is.
Thank you very much for your question.I typically just ask patients to put a little bacitracin and a bandaid over it for a few days. However, I would contact your surgeon's office and ask them their preference. I wouldn't want to recommend something that is contrary to what they want. Best of luck!
