I’m 4 days PO (its early. I know). I’ve done a lot of research on “bunching” or “pleating.” I still feel like mine is an extreme case. I’m trying to encourage myself that these pleats will fade over time, yet I can’t shake the feeling I’ll have to have a revision. My tummy tuck was due to a hysterectomy scar/scar revision. I received a fully tummy with muscle repair. I used a Military Plasic surgeon. I’m concerned. What should I expect?
Answer: Pleating I know it is hard to be patient but you are very early in your recovery and it is too soon to worry about the pleating. From your photos it is likely the pleating will flatten out over time as healing progresses and should have a nice result. Final results from a tummy tuck are not seen for 9-12 months. I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your surgeon.

Answer: Tummy tuck results Dear mirandadelacruz,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a tummy tuck surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively. At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides you will be able to see the final result of your surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: I feel like I have an extreme case of bunching or pleating, should I be concerned? Thank you for your pictures and questions. Take a deep breath and relax.....it's only 4 days postop. There are going to be a lot of changes as healing takes place and you need to not be critical of what is going on right now. Often to keep the incision shorter, the additional skin on the upper side of the incision needs to be bunched up. This will improve with time. Follow your surgeon's instructions (which likely include wearing your garment/binder all the time rather than taking it off for realself.com pictures) and follow closely with him or her. In time, you will likely come to love your results, but this may take 3-6 months. Hope this helps!Dallas R. Buchanan, MD, FACSOwner & Board-Certified Plastic SurgeonVIVIFY plastic surgery

Answer: I feel like I have an extreme case of bunching or pleating, should I be concerned? Hello dear!! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. You are still early on the healing process, it can take up to six months to see your final results, so please be patient. At the stage you are in, this is very normal. If you have any concerns, please follow up close with your plastic surgeon. Good luck :)

Answer: DrDerby Thank you for your question and the photos. 4 days post op is really too early to get a good indication of the final results , you really need to give it 1-2 months more time. There is still swelling , there are still bandages and sticky tapes , this all interferes with the visual aspect at the moment. Best of luck
