I’ve wanted a breast augmentation since roughly 18 or 19 years old. I’ve never really had full enough breasts to my liking. People usually have no idea I’m this small. I usually layer and use push up bras, and fidget all the time. I was so over it! I had just recently lost about 30 lbs and was left with what I like to call “chocolate chip pancakes.” I work out 3 days a week, including some heavy lifting. I have one child, whom I breastfed for only 2 weeks.
I found Dr Kaplan by googling physicians and researching their skills, here on RealSelf. Dr Kaplan is kind, knowledgeable, and attentive to client concerns.
Today was surgery day!!! Going in, I was a 34/36 A. I am 5’5 and 3/4 inch tall and weigh 163.2lb. I wanted to be roughly a “C” cup after surgery. We decided on a silicone Mentor MemoryGel Smooth High Profile Xtra in 415cc. My right breast has always been slightly larger than my left. So during my consultation, Dr. Kaplan offered to either do Liposuction from my belly and transfer fat to my left breast, or just remove some tissue from the right to help even them out. I’m pretty sure he did the latter. He sent me home in no bra and stated that he’ll get me in it at my post op appointment Friday.
Because of my love for working out, I decided to go OVER the muscle. I’m sitting here now a few hours post op. The pain is tolerable, I’m just sore in the sides of my breast. No nausea at all. Excited to see how the healing goes!

So.. day one was full of snoring and eating. No nausea. Thank God. I feel like I’m just shoveling medications into my mouth all day. I was pretty sore yesterday, but woke up feeling pretty good. The goal today is to wean off the narcotics. I got a look under my right breast and am slightly concerned about an area that looks like it might be open. I’ll include the picture. Otherwise, I’m super happy with the size!! I always had these bulges under my breast that I thought were pretend abs.. lol. The surgery tightened then! Hallelujah!! I love my shape even more now.

Mission accomplished! No more narcotics. I managed through the night with just 2 extra strength Tylenol and have gone all day with no meds. I attended my post op appointment with Dr. Kaplan. He was very pleased. He told me if I just felt strange without a bra, I could put one on. I had purchased some zip front bras from Amazon. He said he liked that better than the clasping post op bra, as they are softer and won’t push the implants up. He instructed me to push down on the top of the implant to help them settle into the pocket. He also advised me to go ahead and begin the prednisone and singular to avoid capsular contracture. I have no restrictions.
One thing I noticed is that I’m clearly allergic to the steri strips. I’m red and inflamed with hives and itching. He encouraged me to try to keep them on for a few more days. Benadryl cream is a life saver! I don’t see him for another week and then 3 weeks after that.

So far so good! I went back to work yesterday. I’m shocked at how fast the recovery has been. I’m loving watching the transition of my new breasts! Removed the steri-strips finally. They had almost irritated me until I was raw! I feel 100 times better with them off. I’ve been wearing sports bras, but today wore a bralette and boy were they out there! I had never really had much nipple sensation, but that is the distant past. They are so sensitive now, but not in a bad way! They’re coming down and together very nicely and I’m definitely pleased. I do feel an intermittent zinging in my left breast. It’s almost like a vibration.. no pain.. I’m sure it’s the nerves repairing themselves from being cut. I have my follow-up with Dr Kaplan again on Friday. After this appointment, he said I’ll be following up in 3 weeks.

In love! This recovery has been insanely easy! I’m loving my results. They’re very soft, lots of movement, and no pain. My nipples are super sore from constantly being hard. The zip front bras are a thing of the past for me. I love Bralette.

3 months out from surgery and I wish I had went with this surgery years ago. I feel so good in my clothes and out of my clothes. I have only been wearing Bralettes and non underwire bras. I wore an underwire bra once last week and it wasn’t very comfortable. Not sure if it was just me not being used to it or what. Scars are healing and flattening nicely. I have zero complaints. I almost wish I would have gone a slight bit bigger.
