Magnesium after CoolSculpting. Will this jeopardize my results?

I got the Coolsculpting procedure for my lower Abs done today. Every night, I take one 500 mg Magnesium pill. Today was not the exception. Will this jeopardize my results? Should I stop taking Magnesium and if so, for how long? Thanks!!

Congratulations on your recent CoolSculpt session! Magnesium supplementation should continue to be safe following this procedure and will not limit its effectiveness. Remember that although this is considered a non-surgical procedure there is often some "down time" (approximately 2 weeks) and some swelling and bruising may occur. If, however, you believe that your recovery is abnormal or have additional questions/concerns please make an appointment to be seen and evaluated by a plastic surgeon.

No, it is unlikely that taking magnesium would negatively impact your results. Keep in mind, for best results with Coolsculpting, a combination approach is needed. I recommend adding radiofrequency treatments like Vanquish, Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra for skin tightening and with Z wave/Cellutone for skin smoothing. VASER with ThermiRF is a great alternative. In my opinion, taking magnesium after a CoolSculpting procedure should not affect the results.  I would say it is fine to continue taking your magnesium supplement.

I don’t know of any reason that results of coolsculpting should be hindered by taking a reasonable dose of magnesium daily.

CoolSculpting works by lowering the temperature of the surface fat cells for a predetermined period of time. Exposure to this prolonged cold results in the fat cell undergoing apoptosis or a programmed cell death. Magnesium supplementation should not interfere with this process or influence the results.

Magnesium is excellent to take in the evening before bed as it will help you relax. It is often paired with Calcium as it helps with absorption. I do not see a reason to discontinue use of the Magnesium, unless you want to be less relaxed! Your results from Coolsculpting are unrelated to magnesium. Good Luck!

Taking or not taking Mg will not effect  your results . The cryolipolysis process will cause cellular death on the fat cells treated regardless of medications or supplements used. Magnesium helps with cellular metabolism but doesn't prevent apoptosis ( cellular death) induced by coolsculpting
