There can definitely be some sagging on the abdominal skin post Coolsculpting. It is beneficial to combine radiofrequency skin tightening such as Venus Legacy with Coolsculpting abdominal treatments as it will enhance the Coolsculpting result and also tighten the skin and avoid the development of loose skin on the abdominal wall after the fat reduction has occurred from the Coolsculpting procedure. In a younger person with better elasticity in the abdominal wall the chance of sagging skin might be less than someone older say over the age of 50, so take that into consideration. Coolsculpting will not cause the appearance of stretch marks on the abdomen. Hope that helps. Best,Dr. Flashner
Hello CESS05,Thank you for your question. If laxity is a concern prior to having a CoolSculpting treatment you may notice more of an obvious loss of volume in the area after the fat cells have been removed and may require additional skin tightening treatments. As it takes 12 weeks to see results this gives time for the the skin to firm as the fat cells have died and are being removed from your body. It will not cause sagging skin or stretch marks.
We have not seen any of these in our CS patients, but we make sure that if patients have stretched or sagging skin that really needs a tummy tuck, we tell them that ahead of time. CS does NOT treat sagging skin.
This will depend on skin laxity. Coolsculpting is good for removing stubborn areas of fat, but lacks body shaping and skin tightening. A combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with Coolsculpting. I recommend adding radiofrequency treatments like Vanquish, Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra for skin tightening and with Z wave/Cellutone for skin smoothing. However, a Vaser HI DEf procedure with tummy tuck is needed for best results in skin tightening and toning. Best, Dr. Emer
I have never seen a patient develop sagging skin or stretch marks as a result of a CoolSculpting treatment. If a patient has sagging skin or stretch marks present before the treatment, these issues would not be improved after CoolSculpting however.
It is possible to have saggy skin after an initial procedure but this is not a result of CoolSculpting's process but of the patient's body type. Not everyone is a prime candidate for CoolSculpting and interested patients should consult with their physician before moving forward.
Coolscultpting is excellent for removing unwanted fat. Unfortunately after the fat is removed you may notice laxity and stretchmarks. To be clear, the procedure does not cause this, but may highlight them after the fat is removed. It is something we discuss at length in the consultation. In our office, we may suggest Thermage or Endymed 3Deep skin tightening, for mild laxity.
Thanks for your question. CoolSculpting Is an amazing and very safe non-invasive treatment that will present natural and aesthetically pleasing results that are permanent. Our highly trained and very experienced registered nurses have successfully treated tens of thousands of patients and we have never had CoolSculpting result in stretch marks. Not ever. Now, the loose skin is something that really depends on the patient, and the degree of skin laxity that they already have. But, CoolSculpting won't cause the skin to become loose. We always offer free in-person consultations to determine if CoolSculpting is right for the patient. Hopefully, you can find a reputable practice where you can be assessed and ultimately treated by professionals. Good luck with your journey!
Coolsculpting is the gold standard for non-invasive permanent fat reduction in a targeting area. It works wonders on destroying the fat cells to give the treated area a more sculpted look; however, it does not treat skin elasticity. Based upon your current skin condition, the procedure may make the appearance of sagging skin or stretch marks appear more predominant since the fat tissue is not there to occupy the space. Since the elimination of fat cells happen gradually over 16 weeks, your skin does have time to adjust but if you already have sagging skin prior it may become worse. A consultation with a certified CoolSculpting specialist will help you determine your options and the possibility. There are other non-invasive treatments that can be done after CoolSculpting, such as radio frequency and infrared heat, to aid in tightening the skin. Additionally, you can take collagen supplements to help in improving skin elasticity along with keeping your body hydrated. Hope this helps,Dr. Pushpendra K. Jain, MD
In over seven years of CoolSculpting experience, I have not seen skin become looser nor have I seen stretch marks appear. Even though it is not indicated for stretch marks, I have seen them improve after CoolSculpting. A word of caution is critical. Do not treat for resolution of stretch marks. Treat fat with CoolSculpting and if the skin improves in that area, you received a gift with purchase. Fractional lasers and or radiofrequency may then be used to reduce the remaining stretch marks.
