Is it safe to become pregnant following a CoolSculpting procedure?

If you were planning to become pregnant in the next few months, I would not recommend CoolSculpting; the weight you’d gain in pregnancy would temporarily obscure your new figure. But because you are not planning to start a family any time soon, now would be an idea moment to contour your body with CoolSculpting’s cryolipolysis. 


CoolSculpting is very safe. It will not have any effects on your organs, including your ovaries and uterus. The only side effects I’ve ever seen with CoolSculpting is some temporary skin tingling, redness, bruising and numbness, and/or some swelling. It will have absolutely no effect on pregnancies in the future. Please find a board-certified dermatologist who has been certified by Zeltiq so you can start sculpting out your perfect figure!

Hello, Thank you for your question. To our knowledge at this point, there are no contraindications to becoming pregnant after a CoolSculpting treatment. 

A CoolSculpting treatment on your abdomen will not have any effect on a future pregnancy.  It is safe to have the procedure done and become pregnant later.  

Yes ! You 100% can have a healthy pregnancy following coolsculpting. Coolsculpting is non-invasive and only targets your fat cells. There is no harm done to surrounding tissues or organs. Regards,

Yes, it would be absolutely safe to have CoolSculpting followed by pregnancy at any time after having the treatment. CoolSculpting is only targeting fat cells in the area being treated. It does not have any effect on the reproductive system.

Great question! There are no current studies or data indicating any contraindications for becoming pregnant after undergoing CoolSculpting to the abdomen. Good luck on your procedure!

Within the given time frame, it shouldn't be much of a problem to have a family a few years down the road. However if that time deflated and turned into an immediate priority within a year or so, I would recommend you speak with your physician. It is not something I would prescribe.

CoolSculpting is contraindicated during pregnancy, however there is no known reason that CoolSculpting would prevent you from having a future healthy pregnancy.

Hello, and thank you for your question. Currently there are no contraindication's of becoming pregnant after having Coolsculpting done. It is not recommened for Coolsculpting to be done on a patient that is pregnant or trying to become pregnant at the time. I would research for a provider in your area that is certified in Coolsculpting and schedule a consultation. Best of  luck to you!

Coolsculpting should not be done on women who are pregnant, attempting to get pregnant or breast feeding. As far as we currently know there should not be any contraindication to subsequent pregnancy. Best Wishes, Maurice Vick MD
