How long can eye ptosis that occured 4 days after Botox last? (Photo)

Thank you for your question. It is possible for eyelid ptosis to occur as soon as 4 days out as the product starts to take effect within 3 days with effect settling out by 2 weeks. You could choose to wait up to 2 weeks for complete effect but given your eyelid concern, I recommend you seek re-evaluation sooner with your injector who can perform a thorough examination and discuss with you the best management options. There is an medication called apraclonidine that can be prescribed to help remedy eyelid ptosis after Botox treatment. 

It can take up to three to four months to resolve but typically will resolve in about 2-3 weeks since most of the botox is likely in the right location and only a small amount has traveled to the levator muscle. You can use some over the counter eye drops like naphcon a or visine red eyes that will temporarily improve the ptosis until the botox wears off.

Within 2-3 months possibly earlier ptosis will go away. Iopidine drops would help to improve symmetry in the meantime. Good luck.

The eyelid ptosis may last as long as the duration of Botox, which is 3-4 months. 4 units directly into the eyelid is rather a lot. I typically inject 1-2 units. You can temporarily use some Iopidine eyedrops to stimulate Mueller's muscle and partially correct the droopy eyelid but the effect is short-lasting and is short-lived. Botox induced ptosis can last up to 4 months.  However, it tends to resolve more quickly.  In the meantime you should contact your doctor who can prescribe some eyedrops that will lessen the appearance of the droopy lid.  Good luck!

The ptosis is often at its worst when the product initially takes effect. You should return to the practitioner who performed your treatment as there are some treatments that can be performed to reverse/improve a ptosis.

Thank you for your question! Unfortunately this is a potential side effect of botox.  It might be in this case that the dosing was somewhat aggressive.  It will take about 3-4 months for the botox to wear off.  You should speak to your physician  about prescribing eye drops that  may help to alleviate  some of the symptoms. I am sorry to hear about the ptosis that you experienced following your Botox injections.  Full resolution can take 3-4 months but you should see slight improvement with each passing day/week.  While I can appreciate how upsetting this can be for a patient to experience, I would encourage you to follow up with your injector at your convenience and explore the possibility of either prescription or OTC eye drops to help improve the appearance in the interim.  I wish you my very best.

Ptosis can result from improperly placed Botox, or sometimes from Botox that diffuses too far from its point of injection.  This will resolve in 3-4 months.  Some Dermatologists or Plastic Surgeons will prescribe apraclonidine which can improve the appearance of ptosis.
