Can I get Botox while using Retin-A?

Botox (a.k.a. neuromodulators) treatments are a very popular procedure here at Solomon Facial Plastic in Toronto. At SFP, we offer various different options for neuromodulators, such as Botox, Nuceiva, and Dysport. Using Retin-A or Retinol products are actually a great way to maintain the results of your Botox treatment as a home-care regimen. There is no reason why you should stop your Retin-A before your Botox treatment.  In order to determine whether you would be a good candidate for a Botox treatment, it would be best if you came in for a consultation in person with one of our highly skilled and experienced cosmetic nurses, who will be able to assess your areas of concern and advise you as to the best course of action and develop a customized treatment plan specific to your needs.

There is no reason to discontinue using Retin-A while you get Botox. Most of my patients are on retinols, Retin-A, or other similar products. I would recommend speaking with your expert injector about any questions or concerns you might have.All the best,

Yes, you can have a Botox treatment while using Retin-A. There is no reason why you should stop the treatment before getting your Botox injections. Botox will improve your dynamic wrinkles, mostly on the upper side of the face, and if you continue using your Retin-A, you can even enhance the botox results; it is known that Retin-A improves fine lines and wrinkles and overall skin appearance, so by having both of them done your results may last longer. During your consultation, you can mention your current skincare, and some adjustments can be made, but this product should stay in your daily routine.

There is no reason for you to stop retin a as it will not impact on your botox treatment and vice versa. Good Luck

Thank you for your question. There is no contraindication in being treated with Botox and Retin-A simultaneously. Sometimes Retin- A can make your skin a bit sensitive so you may consider discontinuing the Retin-A a few days before treatment and a few days after for comfort.

Botox helps soften fine lines by relaxing muscle, and Retin-A helps soften wrinkles by increasing skin cellular turnover rate. You can receive Botox treatments if you are using Retin A.  However if you have just started using Retin A you may want to wait to have Botox if you are experiencing sensative skin from the product.  If you have been using Retin A for a prolonged time, it should be fine to commence with Botox.
