I've been recommended botox for my masseter AND also also around the jawline (was indicating to a spot between the jaw and chin about jowl area) and said amounts of botox would be injected around that line just above chin and then upwards about 3-4inches or so. I didn't ask any further because I had never heard of this before. She claimed that this procedure would give my face a lift, to give me a slimmer jawline. is this procedure safe/frequently done?

Answer: Jawline It sounds as though to area that has been recommended to you is the DAO muscles. These lie from the corner of your mouth down to the base of the jaw. These muscles act as 'depressors' and pull the sides of your mouth down, leading to marionette lines. A small amount of wrinkle relaxer to this area can provide a nice lifting effect to the corners of the mouth and improve the appearance of marionettes. Warm Regards, Dr Glenn Murray, Absolute Cosmetic Medicine

Answer: Can Botox be used on the Jawline for Lifting? Hi Blurr. Yes, there are injectors who will use a technique called a Nefertiti lift to try and help with laxity near the jaw. For our practice, we prefer camouflaging the jowls using dermal fillers to reshape the jawline (or of course surgery).

Answer: The "Nefertiti Lift" Consists Of Botox To The Platysma Along Jawline & Neck Nefertiti, the step mother of the famous King Tut is purported to have had the ideal chiseled profile. Her bust in Berlin draws millions of visitors each year. Botox (as well as Dysport and Xeomin) have been used successfully for many years to achieve improvement in vertical neck cords and lax jawlines by injecting into the platysma muscle, which is often largely responsible for these problems. The Botox is placed in microdroplets vertically into the neck cords and horizontally along the jawline where the platysma wraps around. By weakening the hyperactivity of the muscle in these regions that are responsible for a downward pull, a competitive advantage is given to the muscles higher up in the cheeks resulting in a pleasing overall lift and tightening of the neck and jawline. This so-called Nefertiti lift is by no means new; I have personally been performing it for well over fifteen years. Make sure that you are consulting a board certified aesthetic physician and insist upon seeing his/her personal before and after photos before agreeing to proceed. Best of luck. .

Answer: Botox For Jawline, Nefertiti Lift Botox can be given to the platysma muscle which drapes over the jawline and neck. In those with a hyperactive muscle it can cause some improvement, but it will not lift your face and will probably have underwhelming results to the jawline. We have many other treatments that are better for the jawline area. Make sure you are under the care of an experienced physician provider. Best wishes.
