Having a laser lipo and I have an ambillical hernia is it safe?

If you're having abdominal lipo, you need to have the hernia repaired and wait for it to heal prior to your procedure. 6-12 months is sufficient. The reason for this is to prevent accidental piercing of the hernia with the liposuction instruments - a situation which could lead to catastrophe. If you're having lipo of other areas like back, flanks or legs, there is no danger in treating these areas.

 The presence of an umbilical hernia does not preclude  liposuction however your surgeon must be aware of your condition. Your surgeon will avoid this area during your surgery. Please consult a BCPS. 

It is something to think about. Obviously the doctor will be well aware of it and avoid the area. This could cause something of an aesthetic issue. Make sure you talk it through with your board-certified plastic surgeon.
