I'm a 46 years old and I'm thinking of having a revision rhinoplasty but also want a mid-face lift. (Jowls). I would rather do all this at one time as I don't want to go under general anesthesia twice if I don't have to. Can this be done at one time?
Answer: Revision Rhinoplasty A revision rhinoplasty is usually one of the more complicated procedures in Facial Plastic Surgery. I would not recommend having a facelift at the same time in order to properly address your concerns and assure the best chance of success. A Facelift addresses jowls, a mid-face lift does not. Best to go into details with your Surgeon

Answer: Rhinoplasty and Mid-face lift Hi Monica! Great question. It depends on how extensive the revision rhinoplasty would be. If the desired changes are targeted and straight forward, then the procedure may not take a long time and both could be done together. In my experience, I wouldn't combine both procedures because it tends to be a long day. Again, it will depend on the amount of change desired between both procedures. You may heal better if you separate the two. Hope this helps!

Answer: Rhinoplasty with a facelift: What you need to know Hello, and thank you for your question. Yes, it is possible to have both surgeries at the same time. In fact, it is not uncommon for patients to request multiple surgeries at once because it means only being under anesthesia once, enduring less downtime, and achieving more comprehensive and dramatic results. You will need to see a facial plastic surgeon to determine if you are eligible for both procedures, ensuring you can have both done together. I recommend doing your due diligence and consulting with a reputable board-certified facial plastic surgeon who specializes in both procedures and can perform multiple procedures at one time. During your consultation, your surgeon will assess your skin quality and facial profile, determine your eligibility for the cosmetic procedures, recommend the best approach, and ensure the best possible results.

Answer: Combining surgeries The answer is: it depends on your surgeon. In my practice, I routinely perform revision rhinoplasty surgery with facelifts, but this is based on years of experience. It is not common for every plastic surgeon to be extremely comfortable with either surgery. I would certainly carefully research this if I were you. Years in practice can be helpful, as the general rule of thumb (of course there are exceptions) is that facelifting, and revision rhinoplasty surgery, are a “grey-haired surgeon’s realm.” I would study the reviews and the before-and-after photos. Your recovery time would overlap if you had both during the same surgical session, which makes combining these more efficient for you. When the splint comes off after approximately day 8-10, you should be able to blend in public without anyone suspecting that you recently had surgery. Of course, I’m speaking in generalities because I’ve not seen photos of you, but rest assured, there are some surgeons who would be quite comfortable combining the two procedures. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon with decades of experience with both revision rhinoplasty and facelifts, as revision rhinoplasties are more technically challenging than primary rhinoplasties, and should be done only by experts.

Answer: Combination surgery Thank you for your question. Unless you have a medical condition that would limit the duration of administering anesthesia safely, the combination of procedures could certainly be performed. -Dr. P

Answer: Rhinoplasty and facial surgery together... It is certainly possible to perform both procedures together. The swelling may be increased a little bit, but it's great to go through only one procedure with one anesthesia and one recovery time. The two procedures are different enough where they shouldn't interact and you can still have great results for both. Be sure to see a facial specialist for consultation.
