Three years ago I had an implant of cadaveric rib cartilage placed on right side of septum to increase air resistance. I can feel the added volume when I touch it. The procedure involved a right hemitransfixion incision, detachment of the perichondrium and insertion of a cartilage plate at the anterior portion of the septum. I would like to know: 1. Would removing the implant be difficult? 2. If the implant is removed, will my nose return to its pre-implant state or tissues would be damaged?
Seven years post-primary rhinoplasty for dorsal hump reduction left me with an over-rotated piggy tip. A revision using rib cartilage (harvested via 8 cm incision by a thoracic surgeon) provided minimal radix augmentation and no tip improvement. Key questions: Does large incision/non-plastic surgeon suggest technical issues? Can another revision de-rotate the tip and restore a natural profile? Are grafts/tissue expansion viable for reconstruction despite limited skin? Thank you.
Hi, I've an internal nasal valve collapse. Few doctors has adviced me to get a lateral wall own rib cartilage implant. I'm very active on contact sports and especially on soccer. I've been wondering if I will be able to play the same as before. After 6/12 months of recovery, what would happen if I get hit on the face from a ball? Can it damage the implants?
Thick skin African primary 2022 and Im unhappy with the side profile as it does not mesh well with my features, people I do not know have asked me if I had a nose job, it was augmented with rib and looks too artificial, what exactly does my nose need/should I focus my search on?
Hi, I have some inner nasal valve issues and due to that Ive been offered to go through a rib cartilage(mine) implantation in order fix that. Im wondering, based on the fact that its my own rib cartilage, can it last forever? Second thing, would I be able to make contact sports after the healing phase?
Hello, I am of African descent. I had a rhinoplasty and because I had no bridge in my nose , my surgeon extracted cartilage from my rib to build up a bridge in my nose. Now its been over 6 months and my nose is still hard to the touch and my smile is affected. It feels like a hard rock on my face and i hate the feeling of it. I was wondering if I am able to remove the rib cartilage in my nose and replace it with ear cartilage so its more softer to the touch. Thank you
There is a graft hanging in my nostril. I noticed it immediately after surgery and it's still there. It's quite hard to the touch which makes me think it's a rib graft. It did affect my breathing but it seems to be getting better. My surgeon claims it's scar tissue but how can that be if it was there from day 1? Any reason to be concerned? For the most part it doesn't bother me and it doesn't hurt.
8 months ago I had a rhinoplasty with a solid rib graft. I have developed a bump on the top of the graft which is visible. I thought this would go over time however there has not been any improvement. The bump itself it quite hard and I suspect that it might be the graft which is too big and causing this. What are my options getting this resolved? Will I require a revision rhinoplasty or can this be rasped down?
I got revision rhino with rib almost a year ago and now my nose has this huge crease above my lip and it prevents my top teeth from showing all the way. I loved my nose before this revision but I could not breathe and multiple revision experts agreed I needed projection added back in order breathe, so I consented to that. My surgeon told me it would support my upper lip and if anything would lift the lip a tiny bit but the exact opposite has happened. Can this be reversed?
