I had Restaylne L injections 3 days ago. Two syringes total. I was in a lot of pain in my upper lip and my upper lip is bumpy. The doctor said he used a little more on the upper lip than lower. Is there asymetry with my lips? Do they appear to be proportionate? There is also minor bruising above my lips. I had this procedure 10 months ago and used 1-1/2 syringes and never felt pain like this time around?

Answer: Wait longer Since it is only been 3 days since you had the injection , I would be patient and wait to see what your lips like when the swelling goes down. Also in general if you're happy with one positions results then I would stick with that position rather than changing to another

Answer: Swelling after Restylane Thank you for your question and for submitting your photos. The lips are a sensitive area, and are particularly prone to swelling and bruising that can last up to 2 weeks after filler injections. It's also not uncommon to feel small lumps of Restylane in the lips immediately after injection - over the course of the next few weeks, the Restylane typically absorbs water and softens, gradually blending into your skin. It's not uncommon for this swelling to be uneven, which makes it impossible to determine what your final results will be until swelling has fully subsided. Lip injections can be painful, however it's important to bring this up with your injector if you feel that the pain is unlike what you experienced with past injections, as severe pain can be a sign of more serious issues. For now, I would recommend gently applying ice or cool compresses to your lips, as this may help the swelling resolve sooner. If you are still concerned about the appearance of your lips in a few weeks, it would be worthwhile to follow-up with your injector to discuss your concerns. He/she may be able to gently massage the filler into place, or if needed, inject these areas with hyaluronidase to dissolve the lumps of Juvederm. Best of luck!
