Hit in face 10 hours after Restylane injection! Did I damage or shift fillers?!

Question

I just got my under eye fillers touched up today and I accidentally hit my face pretty hard with the corner of a down pillow. I saw stars. Now on my left side my fillers look flat and a little displaced. I definitely see a difference in how they look. What can be done? Did I damaged my fillers? If so how can this be fixed. I paid quite a bit of money for this so I'm very worried. Please advise... thank you

Thank you for your question. Continuous movement and pressure like facial massage can affect the locations of facial fillers, thus altering your final outcome. However, blunt force trauma is usually not enough to shift the fillers around. I recommend waiting 2 weeks until your results develop before worrying too much. Good luck!

Let the face settle a few days before freaking out.  It is improbably that the pillow moved the product but if you told us you were hit with a fist, that would be more likely to move the product.  Once the swelling from the trauma has settled down, just make a decision about how things look.  If the treatment looks messed up, you may need more product to compensate for change.

This is difficult to answer without before and after pictures. Based on your description, it is unlikely that you negatively impacted your results. If you remain concerned, I recommend following up with your injector. Keep in mind, you may have some asymmetrical swelling, which will last 1-2 weeks after your procedure. See an expert. Thank you for your question. It is difficult to give you advice without seeing a photo or examining you in person. However, 10 hours after injection Restylane is still malleable, but still very firm and would need direct pressure to displace it. It is very rare that trauma from a pillow would displace your filler. I recommend that you have a follow up with injector to discuss your concerns. Best of Luck!

Thank you for your question.  It's difficult to assess whether or not your Restylane may have shifted without assessing you in-person, or reviewing before and after photos.  Restylane is still relatively malleable at 10 hours after injection, but still would require fairly firm, direct pressure to displace it.  While I usually wouldn't expect trauma from a pillow to displace fillers, given your level of concern, I'd recommend that you follow up with your injector to discuss your concerns.  Best of luck.
