I'm 5'4, 153 lbs, nonsmoker, w kids and I'm not having anymore. I would love to have a procedure done that will give me the best results. I have ample buttocks but I would love to get rid of the fat kn my stomach, flanks, back and waist. Please tell me what would be best for me?

If you have to select one, you would probably be happier with the results from the lipo and TT. Healthy people at their ideal weight (BMI of 30 or below) should have the best overall recovery from a TT and liposuction, but some of this will depend upon the surgical technique and adherence to postoperative protocols. Liposuction, combined with the standard tummy tuck, will allow you to have stubborn fat resistant to exercise and diet removed from unwanted areas. A tummy tuck with muscle tightening will create a flat abdomen and would also provide the benefit of placing your incision along the lower pubic region. based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a BBL and TT. Liposuction of your abdomen, back and flanks should give you more curves and hourglass shape and fat transfer to buttocks should give you more projection. Full tummy tuck should tighten your abdominal muscles and remove the excess skin. Flanks liposuction would give you a better shape. Choosing the correct procedure is done based on making an accurate assessment. In other words having an understanding of what part of your body you don’t like and why that area looks the way it does.

To break things down I’ll give you the following explanations.

A tummy tuck primarily treats abdominal skin laxity and muscle separation from previous pregnancies. This procedure is ideal for postpartum women who have a flabby abdomen and not too much subcutaneous fat.

Liposuction only removes subcutaneous fat. This procedure is ideal for women who have tight skin and chubby excess pinchable fat under their skin(subcutaneous fat).

Some people have excess visceral fat or intra-abdominal fat. This is fat around our internal organs creating a large bulging abdomen. This type of fat can only be lost through weight loss. During an in person consultation the plastic surgeon can easily help you differentiate subcutaneous fat versus visceral fat.

The term mommy makeover is used to describe combination surgeries that are related to pregnancy related changes in regards to breast and the Abdomen. It is a very nondescript procedure since it doesn’t define anyone operation at all. I don’t think it’s a good term to use in medicine because it’s vague.

It typically involves a tummy tuck with some type of breast lift with or without implants.

If you want breast enhancement then you should get a consultation for breast surgery as well as your torso.

Since your buttocks is already substantial in size I’m not sure why you would want a BBL but you did listed as one of the procedures.

To me you seem like a very good candidate for liposuction of your full torso(Full torso=upper abdomen, lower abdomen, love handles, waist, back and under arms)

Weight loss is probably also in order.

If you want to increase your breast size then you can have breast augmentation with implants or a very subtle breast augmentation with breast fat transfer.

To get the best result the Single most important variable is to choose the right plastic surgeon.

Finding the best plastic surgeon requires choosing the correct procedure first since some surgeons are better at some procedures than others. You will find plastic surgeons will have their own opinions or biases towards one procedure or the other.

Plastic surgeons who are very good at Liposuction may feel more confident about offering Liposuction as an ideal treatment for those who are better at tummy tucks may push for that procedure.

Some patients may be good candidates for either or both procedures.

Here are my recommendations for you.

Determine what part of your body you want improved.

If you want a tight flat abdomen you’ll need to consider a full tummy tuck.

If you want to reduce your midsection and have a smaller torso Liposuction may be sufficient.

If you want to change your breast shape and volume then consider consultations for breast surgery.

With the exception of breast fat transfer you’ll find most plastic surgeons are going to be more consistent in regards to their approach towards breast augmentation.

Next make a list of board-certified plastic surgeons in your areas that have a good reputation for the procedures you’ve listed or simply seem to have a good reputations in general.

Always stay local for elective surgical procedures unless there is truly no local medical resource that is sufficient in which case traveling maybe reasonable.

Schedule multiple in person consultations with the surgeons you’ve listed.

While I have the upmost respect for minimizing the spread of Covid and understand the convenience of not having scheduled appointments. A virtual consultations are never going to give you the same information that an in person consultation can have.

During the consultation ask each surgeon to show all of their before and after pictures for the procedure you are inquiring about. The goal should not be to see the best results of their career but to see what average results look like and get some kind of confirmation of how many of these procedures each provider has performed.

Do not schedule surgery during the consultation or until you’re finished all your consultations.

Always give yourself time to think about it and when in doubt slow down and schedule more consultations.

These procedures will permanently and irreversibly change your body for the rest of your life.

Read all the reviews on all the various physician review websites. Avoid providers that have any significant number of justified negative reviews. Negative reviews because of things like having to wait or scheduling issues are irrelevant.

Negative reviews because of disastrous outcomes or patients feeling abandoned should be major red flags.

Justified negative reviews are far more important than numerous positive reviews.

Unmanipulated organic reviews tend to fall fairly equally among different physician review websites and are not nearly as numerous as those from practices that promote themselves by encouraging (select patients, friends, family and staff) to write review.

The best plastic surgeons I know don’t have all that many reviews typically 20 to 30 on each website but the review profile are always stellar.

For example a medical clinic that has multiple reviews written by patients who haven’t had surgery yet it should tell you something about that practice.

In the end trust your gut feeling.

The price paid is never a guarantee for quality work but the best plastic surgeons rarely offer discounted procedures.

Nobody has to have cosmetic surgery. When in doubt slow down and schedule more consultations.
