If you are planning to lose more than 5 or 10 pounds you should try to do that before your surgery, any more than that and it could affect your results. Be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck.
If you only need to lose a few pounds, it might not make much difference if you did so after a Mini Lift. However, it’s always preferable to lose weight before a facelift, rather than after. You don’t want to end up with loose skin after the weight loss. Talk honestly with your facial plastic surgeon about your plans and expectations. Work with a trainer to get into your ideal shape before your surgery, if necessary. I hope this helps.
It's difficult to predict how this will effect results. It is recommended to lose weight first before undergoing your procedure. To improve final results, we will often do ultherapy about 4-6 weeks after facelift to get more of an outcome. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
If you are going to be losing weight, I would recommend doing this before having your lower facelift. If you lose the weight after the surgery, it could affect your results.
If you are planning on losing a considerable amount of weight, I would recommend getting a start on that before surgery. There are some areas that may not change even if you do weight (areas underneath the chin that may have more to do with your genetic predisposition), but you can have extra skin laxity in the face. If you are close to your weight loss goals and only have a few pounds to go, you would not "undo" your surgical results. Be sure to discuss this with your surgeon at your consultation so you can be advised appropriately. Best of Luck
Thank you for your question. If you are thinking about loosing a fair bit of weight 1-1.5 stone or more then you should loose this before having the surgery. Excess weight loss results in the skin loosing elasticity. If you are thinking about loosing a few pounds then that would not effect the results. All The Best
IGenerally if you are comfortable with your weight and not overweight you could certainly proceed with the surgery at this time. However, if you plan to lose weight, you should do that before the surgery and get within ten pounds of your ideal weight to get the best longest lasting cosmetic result.Keep in mind that following advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do without seeing photos and more importantly without examining you, physically feeling your tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history and discussing the pros and cons of each operative procedure would not be in your best surgery. I would suggest that you find a surgeon certified by the American Board of American Plastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) )that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, M.D., FACS La Jolla, California
There are many variables to consider, such as how much weight you're proposing to lose, and what technique of facelift you're contemplating undergoing. If you're going to be losing 20 pounds or more, it's best to hold off undergoing a facelift procedure into the weight loss first
In general, it's best to get your weight to within 5-10 lbs of where you will maintain prior to surgery. Losing a lot of weight after a facelift could result in the skin re-drooping to an extent. That being said, if you lose 5-10 lbs afterwards it's probably not a big deal. Hope this helps!
That statement may have some validity in some but not all patients. It depends on your weight, how you carry the excess fat, and the quality of your skin and shape of your bone structures in the face.
You can return to light workouts about two weeks after your Mini Lift and neck lift, but nothing that requires any kind of straining, and nothing high impact. I’d recommend waiting 3 to 4 weeks before going back to weight lifting. At that point, you can’t undo your neck lift. If anything, str...
Hello and thank you for your question. A facelift uses internal sutures to lift the SMAS layer which supports the upper skin of the face. This aspect of the facelift procedure gives you the long-lasting results you want. Treating only the skin without treating the SMAS layer will give you very...
Hello and thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear of your concerns about swelling. Swelling after a neck lift that includes a fat transfer can take up to three weeks to subside and sometimes longer depending on the individual. Persistent swelling is common with fat transfer procedures...
