Fillers for severely chapped lips? If that is the case, which fillers work best for hydration?

I always see in photos when people get lip fillers that they’re lips look very hydrated, afterward. I don’t need to enhance my lips, they’re pretty full as is. But I would like to add a little bit of filler if it meant it would help my lips retain moisture, and prevent it from being chapped all of the time.

Thank you for sharing your question.  Any of the hyaluronic acid fillers will attract water into the lips with Juvederm Ultra/Ultra Plus more than say Vollure or Refyne/Defyne.  This is usually temporary and not a correction for chapped lips, especially since it will cause an increase in lip volume.  Perhaps try a thinner filler like Volbella which offers little additional volume.  Hope this helps.

Hi there and thanks for your question! Lip fillers will not relieve chapped lips, however the juvederm products are hydrophillic and pull water in to create a more plump, hydrated looking lip.  This adds volume and fullness to your lip and can diminish some fine lines but will not ease your chapped lips on the outside.  I suggest seeing an experienced injector for more information. Trisha.   While fillers like Juvederm Ultra plus do attract water to the cells where it is placed, this is a temporary phenomenon, and will not treat dry or chapped lips.  Try to find a lip moisturizer that suits you, and go for lip fillers only if you desire fuller lips.  Best of luck!

Thanks for your question. Lip filler will not ease chapped lips. If anything it can make it a little worse - as you put filler into the lips - the HA absorbs water to allow it to swell. This effect can cause lips to dry. Therefore we suggest using regular lip balm to ensure the lips remain moist and also to regularly hydrate. If you are hoping to resolve the chapped dry lips issue with filler, I would suggest this is the wrong treatment to get. I hope this is helpful for you BWRohit SethPlastic, reconstructive, aesthetic and hair transplant surgery

Thank you for your question. Fillers are great way to help improve volume in the lips. However, they will not treat chapped lips. The best way to treat chapped lips is with chapsticks and drinking plenty of water. I hope this helps!

Fillers are not a treatment for chapped lips although certain fillers like Restylane Silk tend to provide temporary hydration to the lips by attracting water.
