Can filler be removed during closed rhinoplasty ?

Question

I currently have some filler in my nose and am planning to get a surgical rhinoplasty. I will of course get the filler dissolved a few months before, but from what I've seen online and heard from others is that there will still be some filler remaining even after hyaluronidase injections. A lot of surgeons say they can take the remainder out during rhinoplasty. Is that only possible with the open technique? Or can filler be scooped out with the closed approach as well?

Thank you for your question. Nose fillers dissolve completely after 6 months. Any fillers that remain prior to your rhinoplasty surgery can be removed during the operation. This applies to both open and closed technique Rhinoplasty. Thank you and have a great day.

Hello @poiyut, thank you for your question. This depends on both the location of the filler and the approach taken by the plastic surgeon. The approach areas of these areas are typically wide and allow modification of the structure of the dorsum of the nose. Fillers can be removed if there are any. Hi there! Filler can be removed during rhinoplasty surgeon. If a closed approach is performed, there's a good chance it can be removed as well. Dissolving with hyaluronidase does help but doesn't always get everything. As long as the location of filler injection is known, the surgeon can often remove what's left. It's best to have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase, so there will only be very minimal amount in the tissues once your closed rhinoplasty is being performed. If there's additional filler present, it can be removed with either closed or open rhinoplasty. In our practice, we perform only closed rhinoplasty.
