I can feel lumps and hardness in one of my breast implants, could this just be scar tissue?

Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Firmness or lumps in the breast warrant a visit to your surgeon.  After an examination your surgeon may be able to assure that there is no abnormality or your surgeon may order diagnistic testing such as an ulltrasound.

Although this could be scar tissue or capsular contracture, it would be most inappropriate to offer reassurance without having done a breast exam. An examining surgeon is the only one who will be able to tell you that you have nothing to worry about.
