I had abdominal lipo back in 1997. The surgeon at the time, said he couldn't remove a lot, or else I would get a dimpled/concave appearance. It made a little bit of a difference, but not as significant as I'd like. I'm currently 5'7 and 125lbs. Now that the dreaded menopause is on me, I feel more insecure with my stomach. From what I see on here, Coolsculpting doesn't seem to be getting the best reviews, although it's heavily promoted. What options are most likely going to achieve the best result.

Answer: I am looking for a procedure to reduce the dreaded pot belly that I have had since I was a kid (Photo) Liposuction will allow you to have stubborn fat resistant to exercise and diet removed from unwanted areas and transferred to areas that can benefit from the added volume and will result in a waist as small as possible. Liposuction results are highly surgeon dependent as the skill of liposuction rests in removing as much fat as possible while leaving the skin smooth. BodyTite does not remove any fat, but it is capable of producing a 45% contraction in tissues. It can be combined with liposuction to improve contours dramatically. Based upon your uploaded photos, I would recommend that you discuss a short-scar TT during a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. A short-scar tummy tuck is right for patients who have loose skin, residual fat, and drooping muscle tissue in the abdominal area. Ideal patients have to be in general good health and somewhere close to their ideal body weight. A healthy lifestyle is a must, both before and after the procedure. To make sure that the results of the procedure last, many doctors ask that patients maintain a steady body weight for six months prior to the procedure and maintain their weight after the procedure. The recovery period for a short-scar tummy tuck is shorter than that of a traditional tummy tuck. Generally, patients require only one or two weeks to recover before returning to work. Patients are advised not to perform strenuous exercises for four to six weeks after the surgery.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Pot Belly It's a small scar modified ("type 1") tummy tuck. You don't have enough extra skin for traditional ("type 4") abdominoplasty, but have mild abdominal wall bulge. Abdominal wall plication will flatten your belly, through a small low "bikini" extended C-section type scar. Some examples in our tummy tuck gallery. Your bulge is NOT fat, liposuction will NOT help, and even a little liposuction is the wrong approach.
