Facial pleating on cheek after facelift, best way to fix it? (Photo)

Hello, I had a face/brow lift and double chin removal four weeks ago and I now have a crease on my cheek. My doctor has reccomended PRP to fix it this week but I would greatly appreciate any second opinion if any one out there has had experience fixing this type of facial pleating problem Thank you!

You would need to revise the lift on that side to fix this contour irregularity.  Just raising the skin flap and reclosing should do this.  It can be done under local in the office.

I realize that this is an odd look and an atypical early facelift result.  However, you are still only 4 weeks out from surgery and this area of exaggerated demarcation/ swelling will improve over time.  PRP will be a waste of time, effort, and money.

HI annie,Did you have a real facelift or some sort of contour threading? It seems to me that you have a deep suture that is dragging on the facial tissues. I do not think that any filler is going to fix this. Keep in touch with your PS or get another opinion from a Board certified plastic surgeon in your area. Facial pleating after facelift? I have been doing facelifts for more than 40 years and I agree with Dr. Lambros. I do not think PRP will help. Ultra sound and massage and if not improving after several months a revision will be needed.

This may need a revision. From your description, it sounds like it developed after the surgery. It would be difficult to tell without knowing what was done. Allow adequate time to heal and follow with your surgeon.

Post facelift one can develop contour problems as you are describing. Many smaller contour issues improve with time. Facial lymphatic massage can improve many of these contour issues. Often injecting filler fat  or PRP (as your surgeon is suggesting) can correct the issue. Last option is revision of the facelift and redraping the skin. Each case must be individualized where patient and surgeon agree on a treatment plan.

Thank you for your question. The pleating on your cheek is definitely not a normal part of healing, and will not resolve on its own over time. Did you have a traditional lift, or a thread lift? This appears to be the result of a suspension suture, and as such, cannot be fixed without revision surgery. I recommend talking to your surgeon about the issue, as well as getting a second opinion from a board certified facial plastic surgeon. This is not something that can be fixed using PRP or fillers, so it is important that you get the right advice for the right treatment. Good luck!

You definitely have a significant contour problem. Causes could include a thread lift ( did they do that?), an unrecognized collection of blood ( a hematoma) or tacking sutures. Although this is likely to have some improvement with time and massage, I believe correction will best be obtained operatively. PRP is unlikely to be helpful and would be a waste of money.

Unless you know what the cause it, throwing PRP and your money at it will not make it disappear.  Were suspension sutures used?  Was this present when you woke up from anesthesia?  Was there a hematoma?  Your surgeon must be able to tell you what this is from before just doing something.  I suspect your tissue has to be released more aggressively in that area but your surgeon should know what it is already.  And you should ask him what the PRP is supposed to do and how it will make it better for you before paying for something like that.
