It has been three weeks since my breast augmentation and I feel great, pretty much back to normal. Before my surgery I worked out a lot and so I've been getting restless. All I've done so far is very light walking. My doctor told me no lifting or bending for 6-8 weeks, which I expected, but I'm wondering if I could do other exercises: squats, lunges, crunches. I am also wondering if I could start doing aerobic exercises like Zumba or using the stair master or the elliptical?

Answer: Exercise following breast augmentation Limit your activity with your upper body (arms) for four weeks following surgery. The biggest concern is with lifting, pulling or straining with your upper body. Follow the advice of your surgeon. I would not consider doing aerobics or crunches until you have been cleared by your surgeon to do so.

Answer: What kind of exercise can I safely do 3 weeks after Breast Augmentation? You may ask you PS for his post-op instructions. We tell our patients that they can do gentle aerobic activity without upper body work out after 3 weeks. No upper body work out for at least 6 weeks and gradually can increase the intensity after 8 weeks. No heavy lifting or aggressive upper body work out for 8 to 10 weeks. Chest muscle work out such as push ups or bench press should be avoided because it tends to push the implants out and down if the implants have been placed under the Pectoralis (chest) muscle. All the best.Dr K Plastic Surgery Orange County.
