What is the maximum amount of available donor grafts for an FUE hair transplantation?

The maximum number of available donor grafts for an FUE hair transplant will be highly variable depending on your donor hair density.  For a STRIP (FUT) procedure an average caucasian male may have up to 8000 but the number for FUE may be much lower.  If you keep your hair VERY SHORT the FUE scars or lack of hair may be very apparent even with 3000 grafts.  This a very evident on many photos and complaints about FUE on this website.  Many patients routinely complain (on this website) of how depleted their donor area looks after an FUE procedure.

It varies greatly from person to person based on density, thickness, and area size. The average male patient can give 2000-4000 but on occasion they can give more or less than that. For a more accurate estimate an examination is necessary.

In general, about 3600 (1800 per surgery) total grafts are available in 2 FUE surgeries if safe donor area is used. Sub-epidermal scarring makes a third FUE surgery difficult.

The number of hair grafts for an FUE is lower than the total number of hair grafts available in the donor area that could be used. It depends upon your donor density, the higher the donor density, the more FUEs you are able to take. FUE range may run between 1800-4000 grafts
