The skin under my banana roll shows some shadow, like the skin is darker there. When I stretch the skin it disappears. Is this due to skin laxity? I have had it pretty much all my life even when I was in my 20's. Any tips to remove this would be appreciated. I am showing foto's from before and aftery cellfina procedure. It seems darker in one but that is just the lighting.
Answer: Liposuction or CoolSculpt Thank you for your question. Since the darkness that you are describing disappears when you stretch the skin, then it must be a shadow and not actual pigmentation within the skin. This is common to see beneath the banana roll area. There is a band of connective tissue at this location that tethers the skin to muscle fascia. This is a normal structure that we intentionally avoid releasing during Cellfina treatment because doing so can result in sagging or bulging at the back of the upper thigh. The shadow is caused more by accumulation of fat in the banana roll area and probably to a lesser degree by skin laxity. Reducing the fat with non-surgical body contouring procedures such as CoolSculpting or with liposuction should be the primary treatment. Skin tightening procedures may also give some improvement. The results from your Cellfina treatment appear to be excellent. A single CoolSculpt treatment for the banana roll should enhance it even more. Best of luck!Dr. Max Polo

Answer: You are a good candidate for cellfina on the buttocks The banana roll area shadows very frequently- it is due to an outpouching and shadow effect. Cellfina is not designed to treat this area. Should the banana roll bother you- you can consider Cool sculpting in that area. the dimples on the buttocks, however, will respond well to cellfina.

Answer: Before and after Cellfina Thank you for your question and posting your pictures. He had a great results on the satellite dimples in her buttock. It seems to me that you had some darkening and the banana roll area even prior to the procedure and as she will mentioned this could very well be related to shadowing. It is sometimes possible to get slightly hyperpigmentation in areas of bruising after Cellfina but I do not think this is the case based on your photos. I think overall the appearance of your satellite has improved significantly and you should be very happy.

Answer: Dark skin under banana roll, I am 40 yrs old. Good morning and thank you for your question. Although It looks as though photos are out of order, it appears that your Cellfina procedure has served you well! With regard to the darker area you are concerned about, this is often just shadowing related to the contour of the buttock and the light you are standing in. It could also be a laxity or pigmentation issue. If it disappears when pulling then it is likely shadowing. Your overall contour is very good and you've had a great result. Be sure to check in with your surgeon to have your overall progress tracked! Best of Luck, Dr. K.
