Cellfina: not happy with my long term results of previous lipo.

Question

I've undertaken a liposuction many years ago and i'm not happy with my long term results. I still see dimples, which are probably caused by uneaven suction. Would be a Cellfina treatment of help? To cut the collagen bridges will not cause a long term worsening of the tone of the skin? I'm afraid that the skin will lose the tone quicker getting older. Please help me to understand. Thank you.

This is difficult to answer without pictures. This may be improved with a combination of cellfina and other treatments like sculptra, fillers, Thermi and Renuva fat matrix injections.  However, post liposuction irregularities need fat grafting or a secondary/revision liposuction procedure using VASER HI DEF.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Cellfina is the latest break though for the treatment of cellulite. The treatment targets the fibrous bands which are the source of the dimpling in cellulite. It is most effective for the treatment of deep dimples and depressions of the buttocks and back of the thighs. it is less effective in the treatment of generalized waviness. Cellfina is a minimally invasive treatment performed in the office. We are seeing an extremely high level of satisfaction for our patients treated with Cellfina. The investigational studies for Cellfina have just been released and have shown an impressive patient satisfaction rate of 85% at 3 months, 94% at one year and 96% at 2 years. The dimpling from after liposuction means that there is uneven removal of fat. The dimpling is NOT from fibrous bands holding down the skin for the most part. This would require revision LIPO, sculptra, or fat grafting.

Thank you for your question.  Unfortunately we do not have photos to give you an accurate answer.  In general Cellfina is not a treatment for contour abnormalities after liposuction.  Indents associated with liposuction are related to uneven thickness of the subcutaneous layer rather than from bands pulling on the skin.  There are other techniques of liposuction such as the S.A.F.E.  Lipo technique as described by Dr. Wall that may help with contouring irregularities after liposuction.

Thank you for your question. It is very difficult to answer your question without seeing you. As women age a number of changes occur including increasing skin laxity, expansion of fat cells, and worsening of cellulite. Your concerns probably are a result of all of these plus your prior liposuction. It is best to take a combination approach when faced with multiple issues. The choice of treatments of course are based on physical exam. Some of the possible solutions include Cellfina, BodyTite or ThermiTight, Sculptra Aesthetic, Venus Legacy or BTL Exilis. It is most likely that your issues are caused by irregular fat deposits and/or overlying skin laxity.  The only way to determine the source of concerns is a physical examination.Once the root of the problem has been discovered, then the appropriate solution can be applied.  If the issue is secondary to irregularities from the liposuction, a combination of repeat liposuction with or without fat grafting would be best.  Should you have overlying skin laxity problems, you'll have to determine whether tightening that area surgically needs to be done (you did not state where the prior treatment was performed, but outer thigh and buttock irregularities are more prone to this development).If you have questions about how to proceed, I'd suggest visiting with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon who can analyze your concerns and has a full understanding of all of your treatment options.Best of luck.
