6 days post op Liposuction of the abdomen and back. The pain and swelling is getting worse

I have had Liposuction of the abdomen and back 6 days ago. I knew I would have some discomfort but I never thought my nightmare would be my compression garment. I haven’t slept in 6 nights and the swelling just seems to be getting worse. The garment is digging into the creases on my stomach but when I asked my surgeon he said it should be fine. Shouldn’t I be getting better not worse? I also feel a burning sensation around the effected areas and a chill after. I just want to tear this garment off!!

Sorry to hear about the discomfort you’re feeling, weez83.
It’s normal to experience swelling even months after your liposuction. Pain should eventually go away in a couple of weeks. It’s also possible that having very tight compression garments are further contributing to your discomfort.
If you’re having trouble with your compression garment, I suggest you go back to your reputable and board-certified plastic surgeon and tell him your concerns. While compression garments help relieve swelling, making them too tight can disrupt your blood circulation.
