Skin quality after liposuction, why is this happening to me? (photo)

Thank you for your question and photos. Based on your photos you started out with an excellent body shape and frame. The fact that you had two sessions of liposuction shows that your surgeon did not recognize your abdominal anatomy, could not define it and he/she just did fat reduction liposuction, not based on your underlying muscle anatomy. You were a great candidate for VASER Hi Def lipo to create an even more athletic body, with increased muscle definition. Without an in person physical examination, it is not possible for me to say if this is “fixable” . See a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in advanced body sculpting techniques for an in person consultation/evaluation. Would not go back to the original surgeon. Good luck.

appear to have a nice result. It is normal to have some extra skin post
liposuction due to the decrease in the abdomen’s volume. The fact that it is
only visible when you bend or constrict indicates that your skin quality is
normal. If you are unhappy with your result, you may be a candidate for a
procedure that addresses skin laxity. An in-person examination would be
necessary to determine the best way to treat this. If you have further
concerns, I recommend discussing them with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck!

Yazmin.   Sorry you are having these issues.  Skin contraction after liposuction is unpredictable but other than your tummy, cannot see problem areas in photos.  Fat grafting may be an option, but best to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!

I recommend Vanquish to all my post-liposuction patients, which you can have now.  After liposuction, I also recommend exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. Thanks for the question, as liposuction evolves we are learning that simply removing fat is not enough. We understand now that tightening the fascial network (what connects skin to muscle) can help tighten the extra skin from the fat removal. I do this with both vaser and plasma after liposuction (all done at the time of surgery). I believe this is the best of the current technology available, obviously nothing will replace a tummy tuck but I feel I can get patients to a point where they are very happy and are ok with not having the scar, drains, pain, and downtime of a tummy tuck. So at this point you could add a cool helium plasma treatment to the area (minor procedure)

What you are experiencing is completely normal; you are bound to be left with some excess skin following liposuction as the procedure simply removes fat and does not tighten the skin. This will be more obvious if you are leaning forward (gravity), or constricting your abs. If it is bothering you, I suggest you speak with your surgeon who will certainly be able to recommend a treatment path going forward. Wishing you all the best.

Based on your photos, I think you got great results on your liposuction. It’s unavoidable to have some extra skin when leaning or bending over. There has to be extra skin in there to aid your movements. It’s a bit unrealistic to expect your tummy to look flawless as you deliberately try to contract your muscles.
However, if you’re not happy with your results, you might want to check out the mini tummy tuck. It can help get rid of excess skin in your abdominal area, though personally, I don’t think you need it as it might restrict your movements.
Still, the best course of action is to get a physical consultation from a reputable and board-certified plastic surgeon.
