Hello and thank you for your question. This would need to be determined by your overall medical stability from this as well as obtaining medical clearance from the physician team who manages your prolactinoma. If you obtain clearance, then I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Patient safety is paramount. It is common practice for all patients undergoing any type of surgery to have a pre-operative assessment and anaesthetic review. If any concerns are identified, surgery will be delayed until the patient has been optimised.
The overwhelming majority of people with prolactinomas are managed with medication for the rest of their lives. Less than 10% of people may require surgery, especially if the tumor continues to grow and caused symptoms. When somebody needs surgery for a prolactinoma, many neurosurgeons will work with an otolaryngologist to perform a trans-nasal, trans-septal hypophysectomy. Gaining access to the pituitary gland through the nose would be much easier if somebody's nasal septum has never been worked on. Great question. I hope this helps, and I wish you well. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph
As long as you are medically cleared for your pituitary tumor you should be able to undergo a Rhinoplasty. You should consult with a Board Certified plastic surgeon with lots of experience performing Rhinoplaty.
