I had my bbl procedure 3 months ago. For the first 3 months I felt awful- pain, zero energy, unwell- I found it quite hard. Because of that my diet wasn't what it should have been. I couldn't face eating lots of protein. Now I finally feel back to normal and am keen to feed my fat to help with my result and fluffing, but is it too late now to boost and maintain my fat cells? Thanks so much!

Answer: Maintenance after BBL It's great to hear that you're feeling better after your BBL procedure. In the first few months following a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), it's common to experience discomfort, pain, and fatigue as your body heals from the surgery. During this time, it's understandable that your diet and eating habits may have been affected. As for boosting and maintaining your fat cells, it's generally believed that the majority of fat cell survival occurs within the first few months after the procedure. However, fat cells can still undergo changes and fluctuations beyond the initial healing period. To support your results and optimize fat cell survival, it's generally recommended to follow a healthy lifestyle that includes a balanced diet and regular exercise. While it's important to consult with your surgeon for specific recommendations, a diet rich in lean protein, healthy fats, fruits, and vegetables can help provide the necessary nutrients for tissue healing and maintenance. It's never too late to prioritize a healthy diet to support overall wellness and potentially enhance your results. Additionally, engaging in exercises that target and strengthen the gluteal muscles can help maintain the shape and appearance of your buttocks. Your surgeon may be able to recommend specific exercises or provide guidance on when it is appropriate to start incorporating exercise into your post-operative routine. I hope this helps, best of luck !

Answer: Three months after a fat transfer At three months, your results are final and there’s no further impact you can have on the survival of grafted fat. I suggest focusing on a healthy diet and healthy weight maintenance. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
