Had surgery a year ago, initially I was satisfied. This year I’ve noticed uneven breasts with one implant staying high, making the breast rectangle shaped , with dimples on the sides. One implant is rising upward towards shoulder with arm movement, living empty and shrank breast pocket. Muscle doesn’t want to release the implant. Also this summer I’ve noticed that old nipples started regrowing under the new nipple . Seeking insights and guidance and help . It’s devastating.
Answer: Implants You may have developed a capsule and should go back to your surgeon. Excess skin can be removed, including the excess areolar skin. the implants can be released and lowered if needed.

Answer: Breast augmentation, mastopexy assessment To make an assessment regarding the outcome of any plastic surgery procedure we always need to see proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before, and after pictures to ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took. Seeing before pictures allows us to understand your candidacy for the procedure in the first place. This would help explain a lot of issues related to your outcome. Mastopexy augmentation is a somewhat risky procedure with increased complication rates, especially regarding tissue necrosis with potential surgery failure. Sometimes it’s not possible to remove all of the areola skin without creating undue pressure when closing of the incisions. When that’s the case, patients can come back at a later date and have more of the areola skin removed so it doesn’t leave discoloration along the vertical incision line. Your implants look slightly wide, and as you described, it appears that some pectoralis muscle attachments may still need to be cut. Patients who have mastopexy augmentation should realize that the procedure has a fairly high revision rate, and this should’ve been discussed during the consultation. Either follow up with your provider, or begin consulting it with other plastic surgeons in your community to discuss your concerns, and the idea of having a revision which appears indicated. During your follow up for a second opinion consultation, you can discuss all your concerns and get a more in-depth proper assessment regarding each of the different concerns you have about your outcome. For a second opinion, consultations, patient should ideally come prepared and bringing with them a complete set of proper before and after pictures, and a copy of your operative report. These are available from your previous surgeons office if you request them. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
