I am about to undergo breast implant removal and was wondering if it is possible to be on your own first week post op or one needs help with simple things such as opening a door/ lifting up from the bed. My implants are under muscle and am well aware each recovery is different. Thank you
Answer: Surgery You need someone with you the first day and night, and then can be left. If you have someone who can stay, that would be much easier for you.

Answer: Will I be okay on my own or should I plan to have assistance for my surgery? Breast reduction surgery will not require you to stay in bed for a long time. In fact, you will be on your feet 3 hours after your surgery. I require my patients to start walking and being active right away so they will not be in need of a companion unless they require emotional support. Lifting, pulling, and pushing objects heavier than 4-5 kg should be avoided for 6 weeks after surgery. Please remember this when grocery shopping, lifting children or exercising. Good luck with your surgery.

Answer: Post op assistance It is always best to have someone assist you for the first 24 hours after undergoing anesthesia. From there it will depend on the extent of your surgery. Generally one to three days is sufficient. I encourage you to discuss this with your surgeon who is most familiar with the details of your surgery as well as your medical history. You will not be able to drive until you are no longer taking narcotic pain medication.

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear ddddddiana, I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery. Answer: Generally easier recovery You should ask this of your surgeon. Because they know how much needs to be done in the pocket if at all. The less needed, the easier the recovery. You need someone for around 48 hrs and longer would depend on you and what was done.
