I had twins 2 months ago via c section. I have diastasis recti and I have been going to physical therapy but it’s not helping much. Do I need a tummy tuck with muscle repair? Would I be a candidate for emsculpt or coolsculpting? Can emsculpt help with diastasis recti? What would be the best option for flattening my abdomen?

Answer: Emsculpt vs tummy tuck Thanks for the question, I have found that many thin woman like you respond really well to the emsculpt and that along with core exercising can make a big difference. Tummy tucks are great but its a big scar with a month of downtime and risks, some patients like to try the non invasive option before they do something dramatic because if they choose a tummy tuck later they are mentally satisfied they have attempted everything else

Answer: Diastasis Recti The pathophysiology of diastasis rectus is separation of the rectus muscles. It is not a true hernia, but results in paradoxical motion of the abdomen wall. Mild cases may respond to exercise and perhaps also to Emsculpt. In my experience, most patients with moderate or worse diastasis are best treated with muscle plication at the time of a tummy tuck.
