No!There is no connection between the two.The pubic mons (not the vagina) is commonly contoured and lifted, if indicated, during the tummy tuck operation. This does not affect any looseness in the vagina itself.
This is a very interesting question. Normally, the vagina is unaffected by a tummytuck. The mons pubis ( the area above the vagina) is usually pulled back up to where it belongs but that should not cause any noticeable loosening or changes of the vagina itself.I hope this helps. Best wishes in your recovery and congratulations on your surgery.
Thank you for your question. I cannot think of any way in which a standard abdomimoplasty would affect vaginal tightness. If this seems to persist, I suggest you discuss with your GYN. Best Regards.
The vagina is technically not affected by a tummy tuck. However, the tummy tuck can temporarily distort the external labia majora from tension. This distortion may be what you're experiencing. If this is the case, as the tissue relaxes things should settle back to normal.
Thanks for your question. No, the abdominoplasty does not affect the internal anatomy of the vagina. Initially, several of my patients told me that their 'vagina' was significantly tighter after the abdominoplasty procedure, but this was due to the upward pulling of the mons pubis (the pubic area and labia) which gave the altered sensation. Most said that it felt normal again over time.Dr T
Hola jamiwood96!Interesting question the effect is actually the opposite. The superior skin flap from the abdominoplasty causes a pulling effect of the vulva and in a sense makes the vagina slightly tighter. The bigger the flap the tighter. There is no surgical finding at this point that shows the procedure tightens the vagina by a measurable degree but I assure you that it does not create a loose effect.Dr. Diego FrancoColombian Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
A tummy tuck is considered an elective cosmetic procedure and therefore is not covered by insurance. It is not a procedure for weight loss. It is a contouring procedure that removes excess skin and subcutaneous fat as well as corrects abdominal wall laxity. Visit with a board certified...
