Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Most board-certified plastic surgeons will agree that silicone has more a more natural look and feel than saline implants. There are three different implant manufacturers with FDA approval in the United States. Implant preferences can be debated among surgeons. The size, profile, and shape of the implant is based on your desired breast size/shape, your chest wall measurements, and soft tissue quality. This decision should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
Hello and thank you for your question. I believe the most natural feeling implant is the smooth round silicone gel implants. The saline implant does feel slightly firmer than the silicone. Most of my patients prefer silicone implants based on the way they feel and look.
Thank you for your question.Generally speaking, silicone gel implants tend to provide for a more natural look and feel when compared to saline implants. With that said, it is definitely possible to achieve a natural augmentation with saline implants and I find that one of the most important factors in achieving a natural look is selecting the appropriate implant size based upon a patients anatomy and soft tissue coverage. If you are interested in having a breast augmentation, I would strongly recommend scheduling a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to review your candidacy and the various implant options available to you. There are pros and cons with each implant type and your anatomy and desired cosmetic result will all influence the appropriateness of a given implant for you. Remember that the best advice can only come from an in-person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who is well-experienced in these procedures. I hope you find this helpful and I wish you all of the best!
Both smooth silicone and structure saline implants (Ideal Implants) feel very natural to the touch, as long as your breast tissue cover is adequate and the implant is well sized for your dimensions. In general I do not recommend textured implants for cosmetic patients except for very specific applications.
Without getting too bogged down in details and scores of different kinds of breast implants, I would say the classic round silicone gel feels most natural. Saline feels unnatural, like water in a bag. Gummy bear or shaped implants are very slightly more firm. Classic silicone has the softest most natural feel to it. Variation amongst the different brands is negligible in my opinion, especially when hitting beneath natural breast tissue and the muscle if placed in a submuscular pocketBest of luck!Dr. SubbioBoard-Certified Plastic SurgeonNewtown Square/Philadelphia, PA
Thanks much for reaching out. I use all of the implant companies and they all have a great silicone gel. I believe that the Allergan inspira soft touch gel has the nicest consistency, and is the most realistic in feel. Hope this helps :-)
Thanks for your question. I would say that silicone cohesive gel implants are the most natural feeling implant types available on the market. Saline implants are also capable of providing a nice result, although most patients favour silicone as they look and feel more natural. Take care.
Hi and thank you for the question. In my opinion smooth round silicone implants have the most natural feel. The "gummy bear" silicone implants are firmer. Both feel more natural than salineMy suggestion would be to go meet a plastic surgeon for a consultation and ask them to show you the many types of implants that are available. Any busy office should have a wide variety of styles to show you. Good luck to you.Dr West
Hello and thank you for your question. Just to give a quick synopsis of the types of implants available: there are "form stable" (anatomically shaped), round silicone gel filled, and saline filled breast implants. Then there are three major manufacturers of these types of implants. Each manufacturer has their own name for each of these implant types. So it can be confusing. But I tell my patients that the different manufacturers are like Coke and Pepsi. There really is no difference. I happen to use Inspira gel filled implants from Allergan, but I don't believe they are necessarily any better or worse than Mentor implants. I would recommend you see a Board Certified Plastic surgeon in consultation for more specific answers to your questions. Hope this helps!
How soft they feel can depend on several factors including how much soft tissue coverage you have, the pocket location, and the type of implants. In general, silicone tend to feel the most natural.
When considering breast augmentation, it’s important to prioritize quality, experience, and safety over cost. Cost considerations are implant fees, surgeon fees, surgery center and anesthesia fees, as well as post-op care. During a consultation, you will meet your surgeon and discuss your g...
Hello 'kimhalcro', thanks for your questions. Ideally you would want implant widths that match your chest wall in order to achieve the most harmonious look. Occasionally this cannot happen, which typically occurs when patients request a significant augmentation in relation to their body h...
