Breast Augmentation. I am 170cm and 55 kg. What is the difference between high profile and moderate plus?

In 2 weeks I have a breast augmentation. My doctor suggested me 375cc High profile silicone implant. I want to be D or at least full C. I am afraid that 375 will be small on me.. And what is the difference between high profile and moderate plus implant?

The moderate plus profile tends to create a very natural breast augmentation result. The gentle curvature of the implant tends to create a "tear drop" shape to the breast when a woman is standing. This is considered a natural result. The high profile implant tends to create a very round shape to the breast. This is a good implant for someone who wants maximum size and roundness. This tends to be less natural looking than the moderate plus profile implant. The higher the profile of the implant, the more volume it can hold in the same width and the rounder it becomes.

Thank you for your question. High and moderate plus profile implants refer to how much outward projection the implant has. I typically use moderate, or moderate plus, profile implants in my practice. The most important factor when sizing implants, is working closely with your surgeon in person to find the implant size that gives you the look that you desire. Careful measurements of your breast and chest wall will help determine which size implants will fit within your natural breast footprint. Taking into account your desired look, and your measurements, an implant is chosen that specifically fits your body. Unfortunately, online recommendations are not that helpful. Make sure that you have a good relationship with your plastic surgeon, so that you two can work together to find the right size. In my office, patients try on implants in a bra and clothing. There able to see how they look in the mirror, and in photographs. Women are also encouraged to bring in wish pictures, so that I can get a sense of the look that they would like to achieve. I strongly believe that the decision about implant profiles should be made primarily by your surgeon. A high profile implant has a narrower diameter and protrudes more, while a moderate plus implant has a wider diameter and protrudes less. The important factors are your chest wall and breast widths, and the quality of your tissues. For most women, a moderate plus profile fits their anatomy nicely, producing a natural, attractive result. For patients who have narrow breasts and chest walls, a high profile implant may be better. In truth, the differences are often only a centimeter or so, meaning that you shouldn't stress too much over the choice of profile. Discuss your wishes with your surgeon, then trust his or her recommendation.

After performing hundreds of breast augmentations, I have found that the size of implant best for you is dictated by your chest wall measurements.  Once we determine that we can choose the profile based on what you want or need to achieve.  If you are seeking a natural look, then the diameter of the implant should be equal to or, more ideally, smaller than the width of your breast. The breast width is a measurement of how wide your breast is at the base, which should be measured at the level of the nipple. Choosing an implant that is smaller in diameter than your breast width will avoid the "side breast" fullness that is often associated with a more artificial appearance. Implants that are wider than this can be more palpable, fall more laterally overtime and also be more palpable. After that we will then choose the implant volume based on the measurements and also looking at any asymmetries you might have. You should choose a board certified plastic surgeon that you trust to help guide you in this decision. Bringing photos as well can help us to finalize, but please understand that these are of other peoples bodies and your results will probably be different.
Silicone will give you a fullness at the top (upper pole fullness). Silicone implants come pre-filled with a silicone gel and are the softest implant available. They feel more natural, which makes them a good option for women with less natural breast tissue; but they require a larger incision. It may be more difficult to realize if this type of implant has ruptured, so it is important to monitor them with annual follow-up visits. Additionally, because this implant contains a more softer silicone (less cross-linked), if this implant should rupture, it may leak but only into the scar capsule formed. However, the newer silicone in these implants may not leak even when the implant shell is ruptured. 
Anatomic gummy bear implants might be a good choice to give you a more natural look. These highly-sought-after, anatomic implants offer a look that more closely resembles the natural silhouette of a breast, and, therefore, are a very attractive option for individuals seeking a natural-looking, aesthetic primary breast augmentation. Additionally, these implants are an especially excellent option for patients undergoing restorative or corrective breast surgery because they provide more stability, shape, and reduced incidence of capsular contracture. Compared to other types of silicone gel implants, the silicone in the cohesive gel implant is more cross-linked; therefore, should the implant shell “rupture,” it maintains its shape and silicone does not leak. Implants, indifferent projections. The easiest way to think about it is they called me in a low medium and high projection or profile. Most of the time I use the medium profile which gives people the best in terms of natural look as well as a little bit of projection. High profile implants are for someone that wants  A little bit more of a fuller look. Low profile implants are better for someone that really wants a minimal extremely natural augmentation. Depending upon the anatomic versus round implants there are also subtle differences  in terms of the amount of projection for each profile. 
During your breast augmentation consultation, you should feel the different types of implants available, and try on various implant sizers in front of a mirror to help you to get an idea of how you will look following the surgery. You should also bring pictures of the look you would like to achieve, as well as a favorite top to wear when trying on implant sizers. I also use a 3D imaging system to allow you to try on a variety of shapes and sizes. I prefer this method over adding volume due to implants being under the muscle.
We will also discuss the possibility of needing a lift along with an implant. This will depend on the amount of ptosis (nipple position) as it relates to your breast, inframammary crease and chest wall. Needing a lift or not will also determine where to place the scar for the incision.  In some cases if the the breast and nipple is really ptotic (low) it might be best to stage the procedure by performing a lift first and then doing an implant at a second stage. This will also allow you to have a better understanding of the true size and shape of your breast.

You need to follow your plastic surgon's recommendations.  375cc to 400cc sounds about right for your height and weight to get a fuller C cup size.  There is not much differance between high and moderate profile and it is more of taste/comfort issue for the plastic surgeon.  What you should really review is the before/after photos of the surgeon's your seeing and make sure you like their work and make sure they show you at least three views from each patient (front, quarter turn and profile views) to see if you like the results.  Andre Aboolian, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon

High profile implants tend to be narrower and give more forward projection for the same number of cc's when compared to moderate plus implants, with moderate profile being even flatter and wider. I personally almost always use high profile implants unless I have a compelling reason to go with a lower profile, like the need for filling out a wider implant base, correction of significant asymmetry, etc. However, this is partly due to the nature of the market I have served in south Florida and southern California. Individual goals are more important than a blanket approach. We use Crisalix surgical simulation software to help determine the size, style and approach with patients and find it very helpful.

my patients choose the volume they want that they feel will produce the visual results they saw when using external sizers... then I choose the profile based on their chest dimensions, trying to diminish the inter-mammary distance and to provide more side boob if desired.  Your surgeon be able to advise you on how each will fit on your chest so ASK your surgeon to show you how wide the implant will be on your chest.

Hi there, thanks for your question. Its obviously difficult without seeing you, as your size post-op will depend on your current breast size, but 375cc sounds about the right ball park for a D cup. If you have any concerns regarding your implant size, I'd advise you to arrange another consult with your surgeon to talk things through again before your surgery. The terms high profile and moderate plus relate to the profile of the implant, basically how much they project from the chest wall. High profile implants have a narrower base width for a given volume. This gives maximum projection and a fuller, more rounded, cleavage. Moderate plus implants project more from the chest wall than low profile implants, but not as much as high profile.
