What is this yellow foul odor belly button discharge after abdominal lipo? My doctor is on vacation

Thank you for your question.  It sounds like you may have the start of an infection.  I would suggest calling your surgeons office and see if they have an on call doctor they are referring to.  If not I would suggest seeing your primary care doctor until you can get into and or speak with your surgeon.  

This kind of discharge may be a sign of an internal infection that needs immediate treatment.  Belly button discharge should always be diagnosed by a physician. With foul smelling drainage from your belly button, you need an in person physical exam with a provider. If your surgeon is out of town, call the office to see who is covering your surgeon in the meantime. You need to see a provider to ensure there are no signs of infection and to initiate the appropriate treatment.

your doctor well or at least should have someone covering for him while he's on vacation. You should ask that person to see you.  What you describe is not normal. This is he there build up in your belly button or possibly necrotic tissue draining from an opening in the belly button. This is not normal after liposuction.  Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
