I am a 36 year old Hispanic female. Fair/medium skin, 5’5, 155 lbs. I am looking at getting a breast lift with implants. I am pretty healthy other than having Prothrombin Factor II Mutation. Is a surgery of this nature possible with my condition? Are the risks high or low?
Answer: BA +BL Prothrombin Factor II Mutation is a genetic condition that increases the risk of blood clots. Before undergoing any surgery, it's important to inform your surgeon of your medical history and any conditions you may have. Your surgeon will likely take precautions to minimize the risk of blood clots during and after surgery, such as using compression stockings, administering blood-thinning medications, and encouraging early ambulation after surgery. While there may be some increased risk associated with surgery due to your condition, a breast lift with implants is generally considered a safe and effective procedure. Your surgeon will assess your individual case and determine whether you are a suitable candidate for surgery. It's important to have a thorough consultation with your surgeon to discuss your goals, expectations, and any potential risks associated with the procedure.

Answer: Risks I would recommend seeing a hematologist/oncologist who can properly evaluate you. Prothrombin G20210A is a complex gene mutation that can have one or two alleles (parts of the gene) that are mutated. If you have one or two changes the management. In addition, you need to be viewed in a comprehensive manner including other medications and risk factors.

Answer: Breast lift with implants Dear Daisy J, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. You will need to get a clearance from your doctor prior to surgery. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Blood Disorder and surgery Thanks for your inquiry. Patients who have blood disorders that can lead to either excessive bleeding, or in your case increased clotting should get medical clearance and peri-operative recommendations before elective surgery. if you do not have a hematologist, maybe best to seek their opinion.

Answer: Surgery You would need to ask your hematologist this question and find out what pre, during, and post surgery treatments you would need and the risks involved. Obviously, increased blood clots risk is the issue. If you have now or have had recent clots, surgery will not be an option right now.

This type of plastic Surgery is considered elective therefore although the risk factors are higher for you, consider speaking to you plastic surgeon.
