Small incisions are needed to do liposuction. Many times this can be put in inconspicuous locations. But any incision will leave a scar. Scars fade with time but everyone heals differently. Your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon should be able to go over scar care with you.
Hi Sarah, Thank you for the question. First, liposuction scars typically are 5-10 mm at most,and most they've completely and never require any additional treatment. Thelighter the base skin color, the less the scars will show. In a smallpercentage of patients (less than 5%), problems can occur when there is overhealing or hypertrophy of the scar. This can be easily managed with siliconegel scar management systems, steroid injections, laser treatments, or surgicalrevision. Sometimes the scars remain red and again this can be managed with scartherapy or laser treatment.
Scar tissue does tend to soften and stretch with time and usually takesnine months to a year to stabilize. It never really disappears but it does tendto subside. If you are talking about contour irregularities on the surface, thesame applies and it may or may not completely resolve.

Liposuction and surgical excision are easily done in that area. One additional thing to keep in mind, if you take away too much of the padding over the pubic bones, sex can become very uncomfortable or even painful.
At 6 months, swelling should be gone but numbness could still increase a little bit, I usually recommend to give it up to a year to return to normal.Give it a little bit more time and continue to follow up with your physician.
